David, I approach relationships with different levels of engagement: I am warm and considerate with friends and family, intellectually rigorous with comrades, and resolute when facing adversaries. My perspective is shaped by my extensive reading of world history, particularly revolutionary movements. Patterns in history suggest that significant political transformations are never effortless, and I believe the period following August 5th will be no exception. The current government appears weak and lacks decisive leadership. Historically, Europe had to endure a world war to defeat fascism. However, our struggle is unique—we overcame a fascist regime through a revolutionary movement, yet our calls for support went largely unheard. The international community remained indifferent, and it has become clear that our people must fight for their own cause. We stand alone in our battle for freedom and dignity. Given this reality, it is imperative to eliminate any possibility of a resurgence of India-backed fascism in our country. My commitment to protecting Bangladesh is unwavering, and I urge the global community to take a firm stance against external interference in our political affairs. India must respect our sovereignty and refrain from meddling in our internal matters. If such external interference ceases, I will engage with all parties in a manner befitting mutual respect and diplomacy. However, without strong leadership, Bangladesh will struggle to counter the challenges posed by India. A decisive and capable leader is essential to safeguarding our national interests and ensuring a future free from external domination.
I have met @PinakiTweetsBD once, I have interviewed him for a couple of stories, and have also chatted to him post-August 5. I have always found him a mild-mannered, thoughtful person. But, with all due respect to him, I simply don't understand where some of his political thinking comes from. As a very successful Youtuber based in Paris, he clearly has become a significant force in Bangladesh, with strong links to some student leaders/activists. What he says, and suggests, therefore really matters. Yesterday, on his Facbook page, he compared Bangladesh's political change to the French revolution and suggested, positively, that Bangladesh will go through four steps - including the Reign of Terror - before a Napoleon like figure appears, whom he describes as a 'dictator' uniting the country. It is important to oppose this kind of thinking, as Bangladesh will be dragged down into the abyss.
