This is exactly it. Sharabi, Levy and Ben Ami were regular Israelis going about their lives. Humans. Light years away from the agendas in Tehran, Washington, Qatar, Jerusalem and Cairo.
The most dehumanizing aspect of the conversation around 10/7 has been its reduction of human beings to cogs -- representatives of big, amorphous groups that serve the political ends of people in far away countries but have little, if anything, to do with reality. /3

Hamas forced Eli to stand in front of the camera and say how excited he is to be going home, to reunite with his wife and daughters. Then the terrorists laughed. They had murdered his wife and daughters on 7.10. Eli didn’t know. They laughed at his hope, his love of family.

A terrible and degrading spectacle once more. The 3 hostages are released but they looked frail, emaciated and generally not in good shape (in particular compared to the earlier releases). Ohad Ben Ami had to be supported walking. On their way to Israel now.
