Some of the reasons that the Lib Dems, Labour and the Greens voted against our plan to reduce car parking charges by 15% in Bournemouth and Poole town centres tonight: * Public don’t want it * Use a bus or cycle instead * Phil Broadhead caused the LA fires (?!) * The town centres are perfect and don’t need help * It’s not enough * It’s too much * He’s a Tory so it must be evil. Fun stuff!!

Unfortunately not surprising. This is extending to GPs too who have not been compensated for the huge cost increases of NI and National Living Wage. Many of us warned that this is what happens when you vote for a tax-rising Labour Government: stuff gets worse. 😔
🚨 NEW: A survey has found nearly half of schools across England are planning on making some teachers redundant in a major blow to the Government’s education plans [@Guardian]

Pleased to be joining @EmilyKHudson this morning on BBC Politics South at 10am. On the agenda this morning: devolution and the Government’s scrapping of all County and District Councils, how pubs are struggling after the recent budget and… trees!

@adechapmanlaw The basic stuff is actually using capital for capital projects and their work. It releases revenue for council services and choices like, for instance, not putting car parking charges up by so much that revenue has now started to go DOWN.

I’ve checked this with the council. The other teams for sustainable projects have no revenue impact as they’re funded by the capital projects. All of our climate plans are capital projects. Council have confirmed that the reason the climate plans are allocated revenue was a political decision, probably to avoid having to do business cases for each project. Which absolutely should be done. This is basic stuff in terms of council finance.

The council have confirmed that ALL of the teams for similar projects, such as 20mph and sustainable travel schemes, are covered by the capital projects and not the revenue account. Therefore it’s not just possible, but it should have been done anyway. Officers will be able to easily confirm this.

@ChrisyLawrence @adechapmanlaw 🤷🏼 I’ve made very clear in my extensive email to all councillors that we’d look to replace some of the projects which are currently (inexplicably) funded through the revenue stream with funding through other capital avenues. Really odd that they’re not already!
