Jay Ashcroft is trying to deny Missourians the chance to vote, tarnishing the office to further a radical agenda
I'm running to restore integrity to our election process
But I need your help. Donating today funds the fight for our rights here in Missouri
WOW.
I am so humbled and honored to be Missouri's Democratic nominee for Secretary of State!
To all Missourian families, women, and children: I am ready to be your champion and to fight for you.
Let's work together - for a better Missouri.
Last week was a perfect example of why radical extremists like Ashcroft shouldn't be in the Secretary of State seat.
Over 380,000 Missourians fought to have their voices heard - and Ashcroft tried to take that away solely because of his personal beliefs.
We need to be clear: hand counting is a dangerous idea, supported only by conspiracy and fear mongering.
This extremist policy would be disastrous for democracy in Missouri, and is opposed by election officials from both parties across the state.
I am not, nor will I ever be, ashamed of my beliefs.
As Secretary of State, I will fight for women's rights, children and parent's rights, LGBTQ+ rights - the human rights of all vulnerable and marginalized communities.
“All of us deserve democracy”
Missouri deserves a Secretary of State dedicated to serving Missourians, not playing partisan politics in service of a radical and extremist agenda with our election process.
Good morning, Missouri.
I want to thank you, again, for all your support. None of this would be possible without YOU - and your belief in a better future.
Let's work together and make it happen.
I'm not interested in entertaining conspiracy theories.
My time as Secretary of State will be centered on evidence-based facts - not disinformation or thinly-veiled bigotry.
If you're new to my campaign, welcome! I'm so happy to have you here. Here's a few of my values:
➡️ Free, fair, safe, secure, accessible elections
➡️ Fighting for small businesses
➡️ Supporting and boosting Missouri's economy
➡️ Protecting libraries, librarians, and books
My opponent is more interested in peddling conspiracy theories, bigoted misinformation, and outright lies - targeting already vulnerable communities with the help of his fellow conspirators.
Unlike him, I live in reality.
Missourians need support - not hate.
For 41 years of my life, I worked as a pastor, supporting and serving people - often families - in need.
While I don't intend to impose my personal beliefs on others, I do intend to continue serving my community - as Secretary of State.
I knew that, no matter, who I went up against in this race, my opponent would be a far-right conspiracy theorist with no interest in helping Missourians.
I also knew that my opponent wouldn't matter - because I am always ready to fight for what's right.
Happy
#LaborDay
!
I am proud to stand with hard-working union members - and I will always do what I can to fight for fair treatment and living wages.
Thank a union member for making our lives better - and safer.
Good morning. I woke up today thinking about how far we've come thanks to all your support.
November is getting closer and closer - and I can't wait to be your next Secretary of State.
Thank you.
This is the platform my opponent is running on.
Pure bigotry, hatred, and corruption. No policy or mention of how she'll make Missourians' lives better - quite the opposite.
If you value a candidate with a heart, support my campaign here:
Missouri GOP Secretary of State candidate Valentina Gomez posts new campaign video:
"In America, you can be anything you want, so don't be weak and gay."
Valentina may be a laughingstock, but she represents a dangerous ideology that values hate above all else.
Our children and grandchildren deserve to live in a country - and state - that loves and accepts them.
As your Secretary of State, I will stand with ALL Missourians.
When I first graduated from seminary, female pastors of churches were almost non-existent.
Running for Secretary of State is a natural extension of my public service - and my love for a good challenge.
WOW. 99.4% of Missouri businesses are small businesses with less than 500 employees.
Our local businesses need a strong, hard-working Secretary of State that will be there for them.
I'm ready to deliver.
I was a pastor for decades, a state rep for four, and a woman in America all my life.
I don't scare easily. And I don't back down from challenges.
I'm ready to wake up everyday as your Secretary of State and fight for you.
Over 97% of Missouri is rural land, which is home to a third of Missourians.
Rural Missourians: I want to be a champion for you AND your urban neighbors. This is your state too - and you deserve to have a voice.
A 1973 Missourian law forces pregnant women to stay married if they file for divorce.
Not only will this trap women experiencing domestic violence - it presupposes that women cannot make their own sound decisions.
Women deserve better.
I am honored to be endorsed by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch!
Politicians must stop imposing their beliefs on the very people they are meant to serve.
As Secretary of State, I’ll make sure that parents - not politicians - decide what belongs in libraries.
I'm so excited to announce that
@DemsOfState
has officially endorsed me!
Our democracy is upheld by free, fair, safe, secure, and accessible elections. Voters ought to trust the process - and know that their election officials are looking out for them.
Let's make it happen!
My pledge as Missouri's next Secretary of State:
- Free, fair, safe, and secure elections
- Support for businesses, especially local
- Protection for libraries and their staff
Politicians are not doctors, librarians, or teachers.
We should not be telling anyone what to do with their bodies, what people are allowed to read, or what children should be learning.
We should listen to the experts - and stop imposing our beliefs on others.
Today marks 71 days until
#ElectionDay
.
We have accomplished more than I could have dreamed of in just a few month's time.
Thank you for all your support - let's take this to the finish line. Together.
Good morning. I thank you all again for your support - and your hope for a better future.
Today is a brand new day, and one step closer to
#ElectionDay
.
This November, join me in protecting democracy, supporting local business, and fighting book bans.
Hi, everyone. I'd like to ask for a moment of your time.
I have had the honor and privilege to serve Missouri families for 45 years: 41 as a pastor and 4 as a state rep.
I never thought I would be an elected official - 41 years is a long time - but I saw families in need. (1/5)
Reminders:
- Noncitizen voting is already illegal.
- Voting machines are safe and reliable.
- Voter fraud is exceedingly rare.
Election misinformation seeks to sow distrust, cause chaos, and scare you into not voting.
Don't let it.
Children are the future of Missouri.
We must invest in them, and that includes a robust, well-supported public library system.
Not book bans.
#WorldBookDay
Tonight, I will go to bed proud, hopeful, and excited.
Tomorrow, we get to see the result of all our hard work - and the first step to a brighter future for Missouri.
Thank you.
As a woman who was a pastor for 41 years of my life, I can confidently say this:
Jesus taught us to love one another, not call anyone we disagree with "weak and gay."
Hate is no way to spread the word of Christ - or run a campaign.
One of the most important things to know about me?
I'm a mother and grandmother first. I love my family - and I know you love yours, too.
I will fight not only for you, but your loved ones too.
My opponent has a lot to say about how other people's children should be raised.
Your children deserve lives free of hate, violence, and control from politicians.
You, as their guardian, know what's best for them - not me, not my opponent, or any other politician.
The people running our elections should be honest, but it hasn't always turned out that way.
Just like you, I've had enough of politicians putting their thumbs on the scales in our elections.
Missouri needs an honest Secretary of State - and I fit the bill.
#VotePhifer
I am so proud to announce that I have been endorsed by
@AbortionAction
!
Abortion access is a right that I hold close to my heart. Everyone has the right to bodily autonomy - and I will fight for all Missourians' reproductive freedom, now and forever.
Are you tired of politicians telling you how to live your life or raise your children?
So am I. My choices and my family are my business - and you deserve the same respect.
Let's work together.
Women's rights, children's rights, parent's rights - rights are under attack in this country.
I pledge to stand with ALL Missourians and always fight FOR them, not against them.
I know how important family is - my family means the world to me.
As Missouri's next Secretary of State, I'm ready to fight for steady jobs, safe schools, a government that works for Missouri families.
Let's work together for a bright future.
You'll hear my opponents talk a lot about:
- Noncitizen voting (already illegal)
- Voting machines (safe and reliable)
- Voter fraud (very, very rare)
Unlike them, I am concerned with actual issues: election accessibility, upholding democracy, and combating disinformation.
I believe that Missouri has what it takes to be the economic driver of the Midwest - and that means helping small businesses thrive and succeed.
As your next Secretary of State, I’ll make sure they can.
In fact, banning abortions doesn't stop or even decrease abortions - it only makes the abortions people DO get more unsafe.
Let people make their own decisions about their own bodies.
No politician has the right (or knowhow) to tell anyone - man, woman, child, anyone - what decisions to make about their bodies.
It's time politicians worked FOR the people instead of trying to control them.
Book bans are censorship.
Book burnings are symbolic of hate, oppression, and an attempt to silence authors and entire communities.
I will never stand for either.
I encourage every eligible voter to have their voice heard - because I trust our elections.
My concerns? Making sure eligible voters can vote in a way that works for them. Protecting our democracy from naysayers and denialists. And fighting the lies those same denialists push.
You'll notice that I tell you what I stand for rather than parroting what other people have said.
My opponent prefers letting someone else speak for him - but I want you to know who you're voting for, what my values are, and that I have a mind of my own.
Missouri is 40th out of 51 states (plus D.C.) in terms of women's health and reproductive care. Abortion bans are only making the situation worse.
We have to do better.
To me, it's easy to fight for what's right because I want to build a future for my children and grandchildren where they are loved, accepted, and able to thrive.
I will never stop fighting to make that happen.
The Missouri Supreme Court unanimously affirmed the will of the people of Missouri. Our State motto says it all:
“The health of the people is the supreme law.”
Unlike my opponents, I will not fall to conspiracy theories.
I will not fearmonger. I will not spread lies or disinformation.
I will listen to the evidence - and I will do what's right for Missouri.
Tomorrow is the big day - the
#Missouri
State Primary.
I am so grateful for all of your support over the last several months. I could not have made it this far without you, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Check your polling place at:
#Amendment3
isn't just about personal beliefs.
Banning abortion doesn't stop abortion - it just makes the abortions women DO get far more dangerous.
Without abortion access, women will die. Period.
Book bans aren't for protecting kids - they're about censorship and moral panic.
"[Challenging books] terrorizes educators, alienates kids and other readers, and undermines the very institutions built to support public education and welfare."
I am so proud of all that we have accomplished in so little time.
We built a campaign from the ground up on the principles of professionalism, honesty, and transparency - on equality, justice, and civility.
I am forever grateful for you all.
Good morning! A few quick reminders:
- Women know what's best for them.
- People have a right to bodily autonomy.
- Politicians aren't doctors and shouldn't act like they are.
Missouri families aren't asking for much.
Steady jobs, safe schools, and a government that works for them - not against them.
As your next Secretary of State, I'm ready to deliver.
Courtesy of the American Association of People with Disabilities, I have compiled Missouri-specific voting information that people with disabilities may find helpful, and will post guidelines over the next couple of days.
Everyone eligible voter deserves to have a say.
My opponents want to make voting difficult, time consuming, and inaccessible.
As Secretary of State - and Chief Election Official - I will ensure that every eligible citizen is able to exercise their right to vote.
The energy tonight in Kansas City is electric! Proud to be in the company of powerful, engaged women at the Greater Kansas City Women’s Political Caucus Torch Awards. Together with these badass women, we are going to pass Amendment 3 in Missouri, and take back our rights
The gun violence crisis can only be ended with a commitment to responsible, common sense gun ownership and to the safety of our communities.
No more children lost to gun violence - ever again.
Voting by mail is another option if you cannot go to a polling place, your polling place is inaccessible, or you will be away from home on Election Day.
People with disabilities are less likely to vote, but deserve to have their voices heard.
Elections must be more accessible.
Missouri families are at the core of everything I do.
When I am Secretary of State, I will start and end my day making decisions that will benefit Missourians the most - and I hope you'll be there to support me.
Our elections ought to remain free, fair, safe, secure, AND accessible. Nontraditional voters - like overseas military and single mothers - deserve to have a say in their government like everyone else.
I stand for Missouri families.
I stand for Missouri women, mothers, and grandmothers.
I stand for children lost to gun violence.
I stand for people of color.
I stand for LGBTQ+ people.
I stand for everyone who needs a voice.
I stand for Missouri.
Today marks a week until the
#Missouri
State Primary.
I will deliver as Secretary of State professionally, honestly, and transparently.
I won't buy into conspiracy theories - and I won't tell you how to live your life.
Support my campaign at:
If you are a person with a disability, you can have someone help you vote and fill out your ballot, as long as they are not your boss.
You will need ID to vote in-person.
Extremists aren't interested in serving the people.
Extremists - like my opponent - are more concerned with pushing their personal beliefs onto the very people they should be fighting for.
I'm here for YOU - not the other way around.
Support me at:
As a mom and grandma, I don't want a politician telling me what my children and grandchildren can or can't read.
That's why I will never support book bans. You know what literature your children will benefit from - not me.
These are the efforts we should be supporting: making sure children have access to literature, not banning whatever we don't like.
Reading is essential to childhood. Book bans are not.
10:36 pm and still debating in the Missouri House. We are debating concealed weapons in places of worship and on public transit. Yet again, we are voting for death and the destruction of community.
I spoke against the bill.
My opponents are more interested in pushing their extremist beliefs than they are in doing what's right for Missouri.
Ripping away reproductive rights, attacking the LGBTQ+ community, and spreading conspiracy theories only put Missourians' lives in jeopardy.
Missouri families deserve investment - steady jobs, safe schools, and secure retirement - and that takes a strong economy.
As Secretary of State, I vow to keep the wheels of business moving - and work to make Missouri a Midwest economic powerhouse.
That's why I became a state rep - to fight for the steady jobs, safe schools, and secure retirements that folks needed - not just to survive but to thrive.
Now, I want to continue that commitment by announcing my candidacy for Secretary of State of Missouri. (3/5)
We live in a beautiful state with good, hard working people. Missourians deserve to have a Secretary of State who works just as hard as them.
I vow to ensure Missouri has accessible elections, a healthy economy, and protected freedom of speech.
My grandchildren are the light of my life. When I look at them, I see the future of Missouri - and I'm sure you feel the same about your kids.
Let's work together to build a better future for them.
It has officially been a month since launching my campaign for Missouri Secretary of State!
I want to thank my friends and family for their love and support, no matter where life takes me.
Next Tuesday, August 6th, is the
#Missouri
State Primary.
I need your support now more than ever to ensure free, fair, safe, and secure elections, support for Missouri's essential small businesses, and protection for libraries and their staff.
Forcing patients and their caregivers to provide private medical records is a gross overstep of authority - not to mention the hateful and bigoted intention behind it.
LGBTQ+ Missourians and their health care professionals deserve to feel safe.
If a polling place is inaccessible, you have options. If you need an accessible voting machine or curbside voting, for example, use to contact your local election office.
