Rosa Parks was born on this day in 1913. Parks was a lifelong activist. Before the boycott, she fought to free the Scottsboro boys and was active in the NAACP. After, she worked for Rep. Conyers and supported Black Power. Here she is with Kwame Toure in 1983.

On this day in 1960, 4 Black college students staged a sit-in at the Woolworth's lunch counter in Greensboro, NC. Although they were refused service, they were allowed to stay at the counter and sat in until July. Black history is American history. #BlackHistory #CivilRights

3 years ago today, we lost a civil rights movement legend, Alma Speed Fox. A Commissioner for 30 years, she was also a leader in the local NAACP and the National Organization for Women, and worked for the federal government to ensure equal opportunity employment.
