I sat next to this work all Summer. It was incredible to see what Adam Hung and @UksangYoo were able to accomplish in such a short time with simple hardware (cheap pottery wheel and single, rigid end effector)
Can robots make pottery🍵? Throwing a pot is a complex manipulation task of continuously deforming clay. We will present RoPotter, a robot system that uses structural priors to learn from demonstrations and make pottery @HumanoidsConf @CMU_Robotics 👇1/8🧵

I couldn't make it to CVPR to present this paper with the other authors, but I'm very proud of this work! If you're interested in collecting datasets to train models to be less offensive and novel loss functions to avoid overfitting on these tiny datasets, check it out :)
