This is misleading way to look at efek kepada pengguna. Fokus patut kat berapa banyak dalam consumption basket tu puncanya dari domestik atau import. It is theoretically possible for a small proportion of total local production is enough to meet 100% local consumption needs

@kapirtapir @remy_ymer @vijaymunisamy Your conclusion that increasing interest rates to stabilise currency is rational when there are alternatives is like saying that a lobotomy that can reduce a headache is a rational way to resolve headaches. So it's not very rational

@kapirtapir @remy_ymer @vijaymunisamy It's because you don't recognise the ideological underpinnings of what you deem as neutrally rational. Crisis has been dealt with differently by different schools of thought. Keynesian would immediately oppose austerity and high rates. They would seem this rational.

@kapirtapir @remy_ymer @vijaymunisamy It is only rational if you are one minded and thinking that preserving FX rates is the be all and end all of macro decision making. It is a tool that should be thought of last since it has massive welfare implications. So it is the least rational if other options arent exhausted

@kapirtapir @remy_ymer @vijaymunisamy You are still green lah if you think economics is a neutral science. You need to read some history of economic thought.

@kapirtapir @remy_ymer @vijaymunisamy Plus there are other ways to deal with foreign liabilities in case currency faces sharp depreciation without increasing interest rates. One of it is to ration FX to key debtors. This is not something radical. Developmental states had always done it before neoliberalism

@kapirtapir @remy_ymer @vijaymunisamy The problem is the just accepting mainstream policy recommendations. That's why you're saying that other CBs would do the same. This is an issue of not thinking for your own self. This is what Anwar did. Just accepted orthodoxy. Tun did what he did because he thought through it

@kapirtapir @remy_ymer @vijaymunisamy Plus there's no need to debate anymore. Even IMF acknowledged that capital controls, pegging the currency was the right move. Beating a dead horse

@kapirtapir @remy_ymer @vijaymunisamy It's not the rational thing to do. You want to increase exports to boost economy you don't have to let fx appreciate. A depreciated gx would boost export. And you'd be attracting unproductive capital flows through interest rates. They are not Greenfield FDI.

@AliAhme70978158 @PGeorge9601 The gov didnt announce any cuts on their subsidy to TNB also for the reason why tariffs have to be increased. So don't make stories up

@nazrinafifi Its not just that, how does the labour market clear? Through wage adjustments. So katakanlah model tu betul and labour market clear, this means wages have to go down to clear the market. There are many problems with neoclassical models e.g. money is neutral and omits debt

@IvarCripple Taklah. Komen aku pasal diesel is to make sure industri disubsidi. Which kerajaan buat. Pasal tu tak ada inflation ketara. Tapi bila industri sendiri yg terkesan tipulah sekarang harga tak akan naik
