Have you ever noticed cultural biases in AI models? This happens because of the quality of data that goes into training them. We are hosting a roundtable in our office to talk about biases that creep into AI models and how to correct for them when deploying LLM-powered use cases. If this sounds like something you want to be a part of, register here - š: Tuesday, 18 February š: 5-7 PM š: People+ai Office There will also be a fun challenge - Participants will generate AI images that they feel accurately reflect their cultural background. Letās see how many tries it takes for us to get it right!

India has over 63 million people (WHO) with significant hearing impairment. But behind the numbers is the hidden diversity within the deaf community. Deaf individuals embrace many modes of communication as they grow up. Some people rely on lipreading and hearing aids, while some use a mix of spoken language and visual cues. Others go for cochlear implants based on their diagnosis. We canāt expect a single solution to work for everyone. Sunva, a People+ai project group, is developing an AI-powered communication tool that adapts to the deaf individualās preferences. And we want people from across the spectrum of hearing abilities to lead the development of this tool. Whether you're part of the deaf community or an organization working in this space, we want your inputs and feedback. Reach out to us or email Gopi at gks@peopleplus.ai. #aiandaccessibility #peopleplusai

Are any of these languages your mother tongue? Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Maithili, Marathi, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santali, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. If you love your language, culture and heritage, then we have the perfect opportunity for you. We are calling on artists to create AI-art pieces that represent the culture of their language. The top art contributions of each language will be showcased at the Adbhut India Mela on March 8th in Bangalore. Over the past three years, @ai4bharat has been working to digitize the 22 official Indian languages in order to make AI inclusive and equitable across India. To celebrate the spirit of this project, we are launching an AI art gallery that uniquely depicts and tells a story of each of these 22 languages and the cultures they represent. This art showcase is a celebration of Indian linguistic diversity, cultural heritage, and AI innovation. Please follow this link to participate and submit and art piece: Tag your artist friends in the comment section and share this to spread the word.

Indiaās addressing system is chaotic. No standard format, missing house numbers, and reliance on landmarks make deliveries inefficient. At People+ai, we explored a new approachāSthaan Protocolāa digital-first system for collecting, sharing, and verifying addresses, much like UPI for payments, but for locations. What could this enable? - A digital address ID thatās easy to share and use across platforms - AI-powered voice-based address input, making it accessible for everyone - A consent-based system where users control who can access their location - Logistics, e-commerce, and even emergency services āspeakingā the same addressing language. This could set the foundation for digital-native addresses in Indiaābut the real impact will depend on adoption. What are your thoughts on this? Could an open, decentralized protocol be the way forward? #aiforgood #peopleplusai #voicebots

Last year, during our field visits for our project āSthaanā, we discovered one of the reasons why delivery agents canāt reach people in India. Itās because many people canāt express or input their address in English, which is the default language for almost all e-commerce, logistics, BFSI, and emergency services. This language barrier not only increases costs for companies, but also excludes countless individuals from accessing essential services. We believe that AI voice bots can help in this domain. Here are some possible use cases of voice bots in India: 1. For e-commerce and logistics companies - Customers will speak their address in their preferred language, and the voice bot will convert it into a desired format for the delivery agent in their language. This cuts delivery time and costs for the company. 2. KYC in BFSI - Filling out forms can be intimidating for many people, especially if the forms are in English. Voice bots will let customers share details like their name or address verbally, eliminating the need for typing or human intervention, and reducing operational costs. 3. Emergency services - When someone needs an ambulance, they shouldnāt struggle to explain where they are due to language barriers. With a voice bot, users can state their location in their regional language, and the system will instantly process it, reducing response time. If youāre interested in exploring how voice bots can benefit your business, weād love to connect with you. #peopleplusai #voicebots

The way we build software has changed. AI has become an inseparable tool in a developerās toolkit, but is it being used responsibly? Adarsh Lathika, who writes about the future of work, says that developers have a huge responsibility when it comes to AI. He shares his insights on how developers can make sure AI is used ethically and responsibly: āAI Promiseā under People+ai has developed "AI Promise" statements ā a way for organizations to shift the focus from compliance to commitment to ethical AI. Weād love to hear your views on them. Please take this short survey:

Meet @kaizen797, a dedicated volunteer who has been working on the project āGreen Trackā at People+ai. Read on to know about his experience and learnings so far: "I was drawn to Green Track after reading their charter and understanding the benefits of automating the certification process. My goal has always been to work at the intersection of AI and social impact. My experience with Green Track has been invaluable in advancing these aspirations, providing me with much-needed hands-on experience in building efficient and policy-compliant technology for social impact. A particularly memorable moment in my experience so far was meeting other incredible volunteers and fellows, like Meghana and Vishnu, during the first Co-Lab meeting organized by People+AI. It was amazing to see so many motivated volunteers, industry professionals, and NGOs united by their interest in leveraging AI for social impact. My experience with Green Track showed me how legal verification and process automation can greatly improve efficiency and compliance, especially in Green Building Certification. I believe itās entirely possible to leverage AI to complete most of the tasks required for Green Building Certification. I enjoyed the engaging and productive discussions that shaped our solutions. The clear vision set by Meghana and Vishnu helped us understand our goals, and the entire process remained flexible and really fun! We had the freedom to build solutions in any way we chose, as long as they effectively addressed the problem, which I think is an opportunity thatās hard to find anywhere else.ā Want to work with People+ai? Indiaās policymaking in AI could be most effective with a bottom up approach. People+ai has been working on a project called the 'AI Promise'. We are formulating a set of promise statements for ethical standards to follow while building and deploying AI. These promise statements that are co-created and agreed upon by the industry, will then help guide and inform policy formation. If you work in the AI Industry, you can support this effort by reviewing and providing feedback on these promise statements. We are looking to maintain a balance that allows for both innovation and safeguarding. To know more and participate in the survey, please visit: #peopleplusai #responsibleai

Weāre back with another AImagineersā Club Meetup! If youāve been here before, you know the drillāAI, community, and ideas that just canāt sit still. And if this is your first time, donāt worry, weāll have you geeking out in no time. Think of this as a Homebrew Club rebooted for the AI eraāminus the beer [ but hey, bring some if you like :) ]. Weāre here to brainstorm, collaborate, and maybe even solve a problem or two before the snacks run out. Hereās whatās in store for you: 1. Demos thatāll make you rethink whatās possible with AI. 2. Ideas that pop out of nowhere and land in the Use Case Garden. 3. A mixer to connect with people who love AI as much as you do (or at least pretend to). Weāre building a space for people who get excited about creating with AI. If this sounds like you, grab a seat:

The rise of generative AI is exciting, but it also demands responsibility. Guidelines and regulations are important, but how can we truly build trust in AI systems? At People+ai, the āAI Promiseā team have developed "AI Promise" statements ā a way for organizations to shift the focus from compliance to commitment to ethical AI. This blog by Adarsh Lathika explores how AI Promise Statements can: - Build transparency and accountability with consumers - Drive internal change for responsible AI development - Differentiate organizations in competitive markets š Read the full blog post here: Weād love to hear your views on the āAI Statements.ā Take this short survey and share your insights: #peopleplusai #responsibleai
