In the Convoy class action, our firm successfully resisted a motion by some organizers to access escrow funds to pay legal fees. We argued they are trustees at best and money isn’t theirs, and funds should be preserved to compensate people of Ottawa.
An Ontario Superior Court judge has rejected a request from Freedom Convoy organizers B.J. Dichter and Chris Garrah to release $200,000 of donated funds held in escrow to pay for their legal defence of the civil suit filed on behalf of Ottawa residents.

Capital Pride’s statement was thoughtful and measured and rooted in anti-oppression. Mayor Sutcliffe, your choice to only acknowledge the horrific attack by Hamas, while steadfastly ignoring the subsequent atrocities and war crimes by Israel, is an abdication of moral leadership.
Ottawa is a kind and welcoming city where everyone should feel included. I'm disappointed that despite conversations with the Jewish community, the board of Capital Pride has chosen to stand behind its original statement that caused significant hurt and distress for many members.
