@sensorystories_ Excellent suggestion. My autistic son struggles with that rejection sensitivity and I hate the pain it causes him. If I try to reframe things for him, it is usually not well received. I will try this book :)

My child had a very hard time with this. It became a big issue because when she would speak, they would demand I put her in the hospital. Finally she found a psychiatrist that promised to earn her trust and not hospitalize her. He was the miracle that led to her eventual healing. Hang in there. Find the right person to disclose to.

@Mattman34 @cancelwok3 The maintenance is easy once its seasoned. I cook up steaks, once the pan is cooled, it get rinsed with water, then if it needs scrubbing - oil and salt make a great abrasive. Wipe with a paper towel and you are done!

@CatholicCat8 Yep. I watched my daughter, off her meds, living on the streets for two weeks -fortunately I had a tracker on her phone. Unfortunately law enforcement thought I should "butt out".

Well, if our country is waving them in - is it really? Our laws are frankly immoral and have been for a very long time. Those of us who got here first have pulled up the ropes and ladders on the life raft and are allowing the rest of us to drown. Don't get me wrong, we have the right to control our borders. We can and should put a stop to drugs and crime coming into our country - not to do so is an injustice to Americans. But we don't have the right to dehumanize the people that came here due to our own country's behavior. I frankly believe there is another way - we owe them a path to right the relatively their infraction and then a path to citizenship. Say they have to provide some kind of civil service, or pay a reasonable fine - and then wait 5 years - prove they are law-abiding - and then let them become citizens! Make them taxpayers! Let them pay into our safety nets. Many that I have encountered over the years are willing to build their own businesses - create jobs, pay taxes, build safe communities. Why are we keeping them out?

It’s only now in my 50s that I realize I was disassociated through much of my childhood. It got me nothing but disastrous decisions as an adult until I started therapy. Once I started unraveling my distorted dysfunctional, thinking I did better. Suppressing my emotions that have destroyed me and my family

@ap1299_ @TomPain03997914 @josephnollasj That’s very easy to say, as we sit in a country far more prosperous than any other in the world.

@BoudreauxsGhost @josephnollasj We have immigration laws intended to keep people out rather than to let them in. Our laws are not moral.

@TomPain03997914 @josephnollasj And USAID/CIA destroying their countries...we have a moral obligation to these people.

I don't think it's nearly that simple. I knew a young man who was here - because his family sent him on a long and very dangerous journey where he arrived here traumatized. A journey to a place he can't return to once he got here. Family he lost. Family that called him every day to see how he was doing. Why? Because when he became a young man, his choice was the cartels or poverty - poverty that the US certainly contributed to. He didn't have 10 years waiting to become a US citizen. During the time that I knew him, I watched him struggle in the shadows - and take care of himself. He wasn't living off handouts, he was working day jobs where often Americans took advantage. Yes, he'd work a full day, and then the American would refuse to pay, or pay less than agreed. Legal recourse? There was none. When he got injured, his savings were wiped out - without insurance, everything had to be paid for up front and in cash. No one was footing his bills. There are MANY exactly like that here. As Catholics we are to take care of our neighbor and we are called to share what God has blessed us with. The glee with which many are reacting to Trump's policy is heartbreaking as we as a nation fail to see Christ in the 'other'.
