#COP29 Message 2: Tertiary, University graduate-level, education is critical to solving the issues of Climate Change – both mitigation (reduction or capture of emissions) and adaptation (changing approaches for living with climate change).

I had two messages for COP29, building from conclusions from our research with many collaborators on biodiversity, genetics and breeding.

#COP29 showed ways to protect biodiversity: Great opportunities to discuss: enhancing agriculture can preserve areas with biodiversity; tertiary education is critical; & agricultural genetics can help both mitigate GHG and adapt to climate change.

Climate is important, but do people really want 12hr days of hard physical work under sun or rain as farmers? Don't they want the same as UK and USA, most working shorter hours with holidays, indoors, in amenity rich cities?
