Thanks @RollingStone and to all of the small farmers and growers that were willing to share their stories with me, most of them where financial hope is hardly in view, it’s just survival. The state wasn’t able to open legal dispensaries on time, but they licensed growers in 2021 to be able to supply a full market via an ags program. Many will not survive the next 6-12 months without legislative intervention. (There is currently a relief package struggling to make it into this years budget.)
They Signed Up to Grow Weed. Then New York State Pushed Them Into the Black Market Weed legalization was supposed to prioritize mom-and-pop businesses — but for some upstate farmers, things didn't go as planned. Story:
