On April 10th several vehicles were doing donuts in the parking lot of the Maryland Soccer Plex in Boyds, when asked to leave, a subject pointed a handgun at an employee and then fled. On April 17th, Sam Khojasteh was arrested and charged with assault and other related charges.

Congrats to K9 Chloe and K9 Roxy! After months of training they are now certified Bloodhounds and will be used for Search and Rescue missions throughout the region. They trained in all terrain and weather, and can use an article with a scent on it and track that scent for miles.

On 11/23 Ofc Avellan responded to Gunners Lake Park for a dog that had been abandoned and left tied to a tree. The dog was taken to the

It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Police Horse Hondo. Hondo attended countless events, presidential inaugurations, and patrolled miles of trails. He was a 1 in a million horse who would have walked to the end of the earth if asked. Hondo was 20 years old.

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Police Horse, Nate. Nate passed away Tuesday at the age of 17 after a brief illness. He was a palomino Belgian gelding acquired in 2012. Nate served admirably during his years of service on patrol and at countless special events.

The subject was identified as Jonathan Boka, 26, of Gaithersburg. He was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, crime motivated by race or religion, use of a firearm in a crime of violence, and 1st degree assault. We thank the community for tips that led to his arrest.

Please welcome K9 Ofc. Dolly! She was graciously donated to us by Cyclone Ridge Kennels in Missouri and is our 3rd search and rescue dog. Dolly is a 1 year old Bloodhound, and is named after Dolly Parton. She starts training next week and will then be assigned to daywork.

While on patrol this week, Sgt. Raghubar came upon a vehicle on fire with the driver unable to get out. Sgt. Raghubar quickly jumped into action, kept the driver calm, and assisted her out of the vehicle. There is no such thing as “routine patrol”. Great job Sergeant Raghubar!

Earlier this afternoon, Trevon Brox was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the attempted murder of one of our officers and illegal possession of a handgun. Both charges stem from an incident that took place on February 1st, 2022.

We are sad to announce the passing of ret. K9 Tyce. Tyce served both the PG and Montgomery Co. divisions from 2011-2018. Tyce aided numerous allied agencies including the DEA and ATF and had many criminal apprehensions. Tyce spent his last 3 years with his handler and family.
