Our hearts go out to the family of Aga Khan IV and to the entire Ismaili community. While we mourn his passing, we honor his legacy as a peacemaker, humanitarian, and compassionate global leader.
His Highness Prince Karim Al-Hussaini, Aga Khan IV, 49th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims and direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), passed away peacefully in Lisbon on 4 February 2025, aged 88, surrounded by his family. Prince Karim Aga Khan was the founder and chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network. The announcement of his designated successor will follow. Leaders and staff of the Aga Khan Development Network offer our condolences to the family of His Highness and to the Ismaili community worldwide. As we honour the legacy of our founder, Prince Karim Aga Khan, we continue to work with our partners to improve the quality of life for individuals and communities across the world, as he wished, irrespective of their religious affiliations or origins.

On Sunday, we lost one of our founders, and the world lost a great humanitarian. As we mourn President Carter, we take comfort that his vision of strengthening human rights & alleviating suffering continues. We rejoice that he is now reunited with the love of his life, Rosalynn.
Jimmy Carter’s dedication to human rights motivated his humanitarian career. Please enjoy this video “In His Own Words.”

I’m so grateful for our hardworking staff across the world. They accomplished incredible feats this year, and I am excited about what’s ahead in 2025!
2024 was a big year for The Carter Center, with election observation missions in the U.S. and abroad, a forum of brave human rights defenders, progress against neglected diseases & a star-studded 100th birthday concert for President Carter. Thank you for helping us build hope!

Trachoma is painful and can lead to permanent blindness if left untreated. It also keeps communities stuck in a cycle of poverty. We are so grateful to everyone who has made a donation to help us rid Niger of this terrible eye disease.
Today is #GivingTuesday! Your donation will help eliminate blinding trachoma in Niger. All donations will be doubled to bring hope – and sight – to more people. Give today! #EndTrachoma

A year ago today, we lost our beloved cofounder, Rosalynn Carter. We are still just as committed to pursuing her vision of a "more caring society" and to continuing her efforts to improve life for people facing mental health issues — and we still miss her terribly.
Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter’s enduring legacy in mental health, caregiving, and human rights reminds us that anyone can make the world a better place by showing compassion for others. On the first anniversary of her passing, our thoughts are with everyone who loved her.
