Our New Teacher Subject Days have been running since 2011. New and early career teachers spend four days across the year with The PTI, learning alongside subject experts and experienced teachers. We've heard from Professor Philippe Marlière, @PhMarliere, who spoke about history and current affairs in France. Professor Andrea Townsend-Nicholson, @profandreatn, who spoke about Integrating computational and experimental methods for the study of G Protein-Coupled Receptors. Dr Carmen Herrero, @CarmenHerrero14, who spoke about the style and influences of Guillermo del Toro. We're halfway through the course. Thanks to everyone who's contributed so far - looking forward to the next days!

Yesterday's in-person CPD day was about the American Dream, discussing those classic texts that are taught in schools: The Great Gatsby, Of Mice and Men, and Death of a Salesman. With our Guest Speakers @mbpearl and @NiallMunro and Teacher Leader Graham Pidgeon. Thanks to everyone who attended for making it such a great day! 🌙

Yesterday's Primary Hub was so much fun 🚀 We were at Meridian Primary School in Greenwich, developing our scientific knowledge with Primary teachers who wanted to know more. Rohima, a science teacher from @PlashetSchool was our Teacher leader. Catherine Muller from Royal Observatory Greenwich @ROGAstronomers was our subject expert - she spoke all about space🌌 📸 See these great photos of our experiments!

Our next MFL course is about Making Learning Fun through the use of Francophone Culture and Traditions. Language learning is deeply connected to cultural heritage. By introducing students to the cultural practices that make France unique, teachers can make learning French in a classroom relevant and engaging. Our teacher leader for this course is Frances Suc-Diamond. Our guest speaker is Sophie Maddison, a Teaching Associate in French and Francophone Studies at the University of Sheffield. If you’d like to hear what Sophie and Frances have to say about Francophone culture, the day is running in February in our Hintze Rooms in Victoria.

Today, we're in South London, at Haberdasher's Knight's Academy. Teachers in this Hub wanted to work on teaching Modern Foreign Languages in the Primary School classroom - so we've collaborated with subject experts to discuss MFL lesson plans and sentence starters. 📸 Photos below!

Teamwork, resilience, and inspiring your students 🏉 We are running an online talk and Q+A with Rosie Galligan. She’s a PTI ambassador, a world-class rugby player representing England at the highest level. Her journey covers the importance of sport, injuries, illness, resilience and commitment, all in the name of striving for sporting excellence. It's running on Wednesday 29th January - all teachers can attend for free 👉

Parallel histories are a frequent collaborator with The PTI. Most recently, we worked with them on a course exploring sources and the historical roots of complex modern conflicts with teachers, providing them with a framework to initiate discussions with their students. It’s great to hear from students who have attended their events and what their perspectives are on learning about these complex issues. Find it here:
