The P-TECH students tested the strength of their bridges with weights this morning. Zach’s bridge held 16 lbs without flinching!

P-TECH students engineered bridges and then tested functionality on the Earthquake Simulator. Students were overwhelmingly successful!

This is Rayna B., a 9th grade P-TECH student who is thriving in our program. Rayna loves that P-TECH gives her the chance to be creative. She looks forward to being able to apply the skills she's learning in class in future internships with business partners. She makes us proud!

10th Grader, Jeremiah B. wants to be an aeronautical engineer and credits P-TECH with helping him get a jump start on his career path. He's driven, motivated and goal oriented. He makes us proud every day.

Aprille Ericsson-Jackson is an American aerospace engineer. Ericsson-Jackson is the first African-American woman to receive a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Howard University & the first African-American woman to receive a Ph.D. in Engineering at NASA Goddard Space Center.

Yesterday our 9th Grade P-TECH students got to meet with mentors from our business partners in a virtual setting. Our students were prepared, professional and engaged! Thanks to our mentors for their time and thanks to our students for representing P-TECH so well!

While the US was engaged in WWII, the Army Corps of Engineers tasked African American regiments of the Army to build the first highway in Alaska, marking an important step forward in the desegregation of the military in 1948.

Ursula Burns earned her BS in Mechanical Engineering from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute & her MS from Columbia Uni. She’s best known for being the first Black woman CEO of a Fortune 500 company, Xerox. She also led the White House National STEM Program under President Obama.

Walter Braithwaite worked for Boeing from 1966-2003. He is credited with introducing Computer Aided Design (CAD) to the aerospace industry. His work revolutionized the way that airplanes are designed and manufactured.
