Our District’s longest serving Officer, (photographed with District Commander Superintendent Brian Kee QPM), is retiring today after completing an incredible almost 49 years of Policing Service in the Royal Ulster Constabulary GC and the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
Watch, as yesterday at 3.38pm, Ammunition Technical Officers carried out a controlled explosion of a bomb, which was discovered in the Rivenwood area of Newtownards on Thursday, 15th August.
We had a little helper out today in Bangor train station helping out our District Support Team. If you come here to sell drugs to our children Jazz will sniff you out.
Today officers from Bangor Neighbourhood Policing Team attended Christ Church Primacy's 'Community Fun Day'. Making an appearance at the event was police dog Havoc. It was Havoc's last day of service before he retires tomorrow. We wish Havoc a long and happy retirement!
Armed Response Unit and Dog Section are in Ards and North Down helping local police tonight and in the coming days when necessary. Our canine helpers Alfie and Goose are also pictured.
This handsome boy is Acer. He is one of the Service's newer recruits. Acer is a drugs dog and has been patrolling Ards and North Down with his Handler today assisting our Officers on the ground.

Officers from Bangor Neighbourhood Policing Team have issued over 20 tickets tonight in Helen's Bay due to the inconsiderate parking by some drivers. There were plenty of parking spaces available in Crawfordsburn Country Park which you can use to access Helen's Bay as well.
One of our rural patrols had a treat when they came across some seals getting released this morning down the Peninsula. We are privileged officers to work in such a beautiful part of the world.
Today, Friday 27 January, Richard McGarrity was sentenced at Belfast Crown Court having previously pleaded guilty to drug related offences.
Police dog Jess located drugs in a house in Bangor in March 2022 during the investigation.

Successfully ushered back up towards Killynether and out of harms way.
Two very special visitors called to see us and completed the outdoor displays of our second Work Experience Programme today - Police Dog Havoc and Police Dog Archie.
Coming into the summer months more people are visiting our beaches and beauty spots here in C District.

We have arrested five people in relation to a number of reports of bogus charity collectors targeting members of the public across Northern Ireland recently
We have been carrying out speed checks at Green Road, Conlig, after receiving complaints from local residents concerned about the excessive speed of vehicles travelling through the area.
On this deployment officers issued 3 fixed penalty notices.

Police responded to a report of an incident at a bonfire in the Portaferry Road area of Newtownards this evening, July 11th. One person has been taken to hospital.
Tactical Support Group officers are present in the Helens Bay area working in partnership with staff and security from Translink - enjoy the weather and be considerate to local residents.

Missing person Eden Jones now located safe and well with the help of the good public of Bangor. The family wish to thank all those that helped find her so quickly.
Another gorgeous evening in the District. Bangor Neighbourhood officers are down at Bank's Lane & Ballyholme. Good to see people enjoying the beach in a responsible way. Car park is currently full. When leaving the area do so quietly and respect local residents.
It was great to meet and engage with some members of the Syrian Community who have now made Bangor their home.
Officers from Bangor NPT enjoyed chatting with them over a cup of tea.

Ards and North Down District Commander Superintendent Johnston McDowell said: “Following the controlled explosion of a World War Two bomb in the Rivenwood area of Newtownards this afternoon, I can now confirm that all local residents can return to their homes.”
Following our last post I can inform you that officers from Comber Neighbourhood team and B section in Ards have located a number of vehicles which had been stolen from the Comber area during the night. One male has been arrested thus far and is assisting us with our enquiries.
Detectives investigating an incident in Newtownards on Sunday in which money was demanded from a woman have charged two 14 year old boys with attempted robbery, possession of an offensive weapon and grievous bodily harm. Both are due to appear at court today.
Following reports of excess speed in the district we have carried out a number of checks today in different locations within Ards and North Down. We will continue to encourage motorists to drive safely and within the speed limits.

Officers from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force and Tactical Support Group, carried out searches at two houses in the Donaghadee and Newtownards area today and seized a quantity of suspected class B and C drugs.

Police in Holywood, who seized a quantity of suspected drugs following a proactive stop and search of two vehicles in the town on Monday 22nd January, have charged four men to court.
District Commander for Ards and North Down, Superintendent Johnston McDowell has confirmed that 10 people have been arrested and two charged to court by police investigating a series of attacks linked to a feud between drugs gangs. Read more here:

The stolen vehicle we circulated yesterday has been located and recovered.

We've been out on foot patrol around the duck pond in Ards this evening and will be continuing to do so in the coming weeks due to concerns of anti social behaviour in this area. If you have concerns about people taking part in this type of behaviour please call 101.
It's been a busy enough Sunday night shift in Ards & North Down with crews making arrests for domestics assaults as well as a breach of a non-molestation order.
We've also dealt with hit and run RTCs, administered CPR and assisted our colleagues in the Ambulance Service.
Off duty officer 1st on scene at fatal RTC leaving a young mother dead & a baby girl fighting for life.The officer extracted the baby and administered first aid,whilst identifying witnesses & directing uniform responders as they arrived.All whilst still a probationer!

Officers on foot patrol came across a suicidal male on the wrong side on the rails on a footbridge over a main road. Building a rapport,1 officer got close enough to get a chance to grab hold of the man, saving his life.

Emergency services responded to an incident at Newtownards airfield today.
There was one male on board the aircraft who was checked over by Northern Ireland Ambulance Service at the scene but did not require hospital treatment or suffer any serious injuries.

Detectives from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force charge a 40 year old man with a number of offences including being concerned in the supply of Class A & B controlled drugs & fraud by failing to disclose information, to appear at Newtownards MC on 26 November.
