Mystery bowlers have often struggled in longer formats like ODIs & Tests. Why is it so? #INDvsENG

Exceptional batting by India today. What stood out for me was @ShreyasIyer15 and his tenacity. Came in as an uncertain No. 4 and sealed it forever. Shouldn’t have had a doubt over his place ever #INDvsENG

Congratulations @ShelJackson27 on a glittering career. Not many have symbolised the tenacity, talent, and temperament required to excel in domestic cricket for so long like you’ve done. Wish you the very best for the second innings of your career. #RanjiTrophy

. @ShreyasIyer15 says he was not going to be in India’s playing XI in Nagpur. Quite shocking if you ask me #INDvsENG

That was a peach of a delivery by Jofra. But Yashasvi looked all class in that short innings. Selection headache for the team? #INDvENG

I am really excited to see India play ODIs after a long time. Off late, I’ve heard that ODI cricket has lost its relevance in the modern day and age. I couldn’t disagree more. Coming from a generation of people who grew up seeing India enthrall the audience in 50-overs game, I’m always glad to see the country star in this format. It forms the perfect bridge between the grind of Test cricket and the flamboyance of T20Is, and is something that’s a necessity if we want to keep cricket in all forms afloat for the longer run. The ODIs against England are crucial since we haven’t played a lot of them ever since the series against Sri Lanka, which happened in the backdrop of the T20 World Cup win. I feel India have the correct balance in batting and the top-five will remain the same as it was during the World Cup. Suryakumar Yadav’s No. 6 spot could be taken by Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja at No. 7 gives India the perfect all-round cushion. Mohammed Shami has done the hard yards in domestic cricket and I’m sure he will return sharper in Indian colours, but the big suspense is still surrounding the availability of Jasprit Bumrah. I’m eager to see him share the new ball with Shami and put the opponents in the back foot from the onset, something that will enable us to dictate the flow of the game. But we will have to wait till the Champions Trophy for that. For now, the England series will be a test of our bench strength too. Will Washington Sundar emerge as a frontline all-round option displacing the seniors in limited overs cricket? Will Rishabh Pant find a way past KL Rahul to add left-handedness to our batting unit at No. 5? Will Harshit Rana reiterate his stature as a the next big thing in the Indian pace attack in ODIs? There are plenty of questions to answer, and just three games to find the solutions. Let’s get rolling, shall we? #INDvsENG
