Like the rest of my Filipino moots, I'll begin to place real expectations on the national team come AFF season. The improvements are definitely starting to show so far, though. Hoping that Coach Tom will have us clicking by then.

The fact is that our local-based players are just not up to par yet. Selecting a full squad of them will not magically turn on their football genes and turn into prime Brazil.
Work with the best available for now and develop the rest for later, regardless of their birthplace.

Really disappointed that we're not getting any word from the PFL themselves about the upcoming season. They have yet to confirm the actual league structure or release any promotional material.
The PFL 🇵🇭 2024-2025 season is scheduled to begin in mid-September.
It will be a two-part season, with the first half this year and the second half the next year.
UMAK, Biñan and UP Diliman will serve as Manila game venues.

Stallion officially ends their 2024 campaign on a high note, beating Cebu 2-1 on their own turf.
No AFC competition or PFL title this year, but they have made vast improvements from last season. We'll have to wait for the 24/25 season to see how much further they can go.

For what its worth, I think this is a great move in growing the sport in this country.
If we can get the same media coverage that the NT gets for PFL matches, that itself would be a massive boost as matchday media was one of the league's biggest weaknesses last season.

I do want Montet to stay active in the PFL for the long run. The real issue here is their on-field quality, they seriously need better players. Mark Jones is their only real pfl-standard player and I just know that he's jumping ship to somewhere else.

We all recognize that the PFL is still developing because of all the setbacks in previous years. In 2024, we have an actual shot at making large improvements in domestic PH football. This makes the lack of progress shown thus far incredibly frustrating.

A key point that PFL teams can take away from the Stallion-Taguig game, is that the Stallion high press can be beaten. At times, the Stallion defense was not fast enough to keep up with pacy wingers like Grogg once the opposition unlocks them.

As a league, the PFL needs to impose a salary floor in order to raise its standards as a professional league.
Having a team where the "luckiest" gain less than minimum wage, AND are expected to compete week in and week out is flat out embarassing.
