So after a very long few days, Mrs Bear has delivered a very healthy baby boy at 1836. Weighing in at a healthy 9lb 1oz. Mrs Bear is absolutely fine as is baby Bear too!

The Sgt exam results came out today, unfortunately I failed. I scored 52%. Close but still so far. Nevermind. We move on and try again.

Rough day today at work. We had 3 people found hanging in one shift. Luckily, 2 were found in time and cut down. Sadly, 1 wasn't and was found by family.

Get in! Just had confirmation this morning that I have been successful in applying to become a Trim - Trauma Risk Incident Manager. I will do private chats with officers struggling after dealing with hard traumatic jobs. I can't wait to get started.

I love this time of year! Granted driving at high speeds in this weather is risky but what a sight! Busy shift up to now. Had to force entry to 2 addresses, numerous pub scuffles and drunk people. But, I love getting back in the streets

Wow! What a beautiful gentle giant. The best wellbeing dog I have ever met. His owner, is in her 79's and has 5 of these dogs! He weighs 75kg!
Points for the person who can guess his name.

OVER THE MOON!! I just had confirmation I've passed the paper application for dogs. I've not had an invitation to a 3 day suitability test.
Fingers crossed for the 3 days now. All I can do is give it my best shot!

Excited!!!! Had a call from work asking if I can attend stag 1 for my dogs application tomorrow. 8am fitness test to get stage 1 ticked off.

Yesterday didn't go to plan. I missed John Bishop to go see my Grandad who got rushed into hospital. I got there to see him one last time, I told him I would do him proud and to sleep tight. Sadly, he took his last breath today and went to sleep forever. Sleep tight Pops x

What a night shift! We had a high risk missing person who was running down a dual carriageway with very thick low fog and horrific visibility. Luckily, I sighted him, had a small foot chase and managed to grab him before he went over the 200 ft drop! Just grabbing him in time

I got a new addition today on my arm in memory of my Grandad. We used to play darts together so it was fitting I got a dart for him and a dart for me. In the middle is his writing I found from an old card too. With a copy of the darts he used to play with at home.

So, I have accepted a new role today. With my restrictions due to my shoulder injury I've been offered an acting sergeant position in crime prevention for a few months starting tomorrow. 2 days training then 4 days off ready to start full time on Monday.

Updated: Good news. I don't need to run the bleep test as I'm PSU and my yearly refresher is 6.4 for my PST. Dogs is 6.3 so I don't need to do another bleep test. So, I can sit back and wait to see if I get through the paper sift next week now 🤞

I can't wait for Sunday! I had a single day off in August due to what's been going on. Sunday, I get to have a Dad & lad day with my eldest boy at the match. What more could you want for a day off.

Well after working 150 hours the last 10 days due to riots and public order events I am back in my day job. I finished at midnight and back in at 0700 today. Counting down the days for my day off on Friday!

Well after 2 court cases last week, this week I have a 3 day course. I have my initial pursuit course starting tomorrow so fingers crossed!

Over the moon with today's run. The first half marathon in 6 years and the aim was under 2.15. I managed it in 2.05.54 so I was pleased with that. To make it even sweeter, I ran every step with my Dad.

Day 3 of my Dogs Suitability assessment week. What a tough 2 days I've had! Mentally and physically it is very demanding. All I can do is give it my best today in the last few assessments and exam and keep my fingers crossed.

This is utterly horrific! I understand football teams have a rivalry with each other but to share an image of a young child that has passed away for a laugh is beyond inhumane. I hope to god these guys get a life ban.

Wow! The amount of messages is overwhelming and may I say, very much appreciated. I will reply to each and every one of you. Mrs B and Baby B are both fine. A long few days in hospital but, were home and enjoying life as a family of 5.

Well after a long wait for the report and 35 years of not knowing and muddling through life, it's confirmed I'm dyslexic. I can get changes within work to assist with things which are good but let's see what comes next in work

Today, my family dog of 15 years Zara went to sleep for the final time. Sadly, Zara has been poorly and the vets decided today was in her best interests to go to sleep one last time. Thanks for all the good time girl, the cuddles and fun we had. Mental but missed. Night girl x

Well, my dream job has just opened for application. God, I'm nervous, anxious and scared all in one. I will apply and give it my best. Let's hope it goes the way I would love and in a few months I will be a dog handler. Fingers crossed.

Well what a long and hard 3 days. Sadly, I was just under the pass mark and didn't make it through to the suitability week to the interview.
But, I've gained massive experience and can use this next time it comes up in the summer.

I picked up an overtime shift last night. We had genuine 999 calls for the following reasons. 1, I've not got a remote for my TV in my hotel (3 calls) 2, a woman asking for a lift home. 3, someone rang 8 times saying he's getting burgled whilst police are outside the house.

I worked a night shift last night as a call taker. I took a call from someone who wanted to complain about a care home. After being told several times that it wasn't a police issue, I had to put the phone down on him. Why ring 999 to complain about a care home!

We're in hospital now and staying overnight. We're waiting on a delivery suite to be free then the hospital will be popping the wife's waters and see when baby bear arrives. Fingers crossed it won't be too long for Mrs Bear. Not too long to go now.

So, I am now the temporary Sgt for Operation Charlton. I have a small team to get on top of the property within my force focusing on firearms, ammunition, crossbows and knives. I'm sad to move from my last team but excited at the same time too.

I like that saying. We're there for them and their families during an awful time. It's not the best part of the job but, a fairly large part of the job. It's sad when you go to them but, we just need to leave their partners with a positive view of us before we leave

Brilliant news! I have just had a text from the OIC to say, the male from today's case who racially abused a player has been changed for racially aggravated public order and given a 3 year football banning order. Very pleased with that.

That's the week long crammer course completed. I missed today due to having to assist with a high risk missing person. Now to get my PSU Kit ready for tomorrow when I am the Sgt of a serial. Rather looking forward to tomorrow

2 days PSU loggist course completed. Hopefully this will open a few more down in the PSU world for me. I'm really interested in the Public Order stuff and think that will be the route I try to go down. It's very appealing.

Now the Sgt exam is over. What are people's thoughts. it was a tough exam, I am fortunate I get extra time due to my dyslexia but i needed every minute of it. Now it's fingers crossed time.

So I found out today my post in crime prevention is coming to an end. I will continue to work on the operation for the weapons within my force which is good. I really enjoyed my 8 months where I was and glad I took the opportunity when I did.

Sat enjoying the evening sun and peace and quiet reminiscing the good time with my Pops who we sadly lost in May.
He was so proud of me getting in the police and told everyone I would arrest them for him. God, I wish I could just share a brew with him one last time.

Day 2 in court and the second charge laid on a suspect in 2 days.
Down fall, I forgot it was my wedding anniversary and came home from work.with no card, flowers etc. looks like I'm off to the shops for a belated gift for Mrs Bear. Oops!

IPP Day 2 Completed. I have to say, I am really enjoying this course. Gets you thinking in a different way when driving with blues on. One more day and hopefully a big PASS will be coming my way

Today is the day! I am actually excited to do a course for a change.
My Trim course is today for 2 days. I can't wait to be able to be that extra help for officers that are struggling inside and hopefully I can make that small change.

Very happy to say the least. The house Mrs Bear fell in love with, we can now officially say we will be owning in the near future.
Just a case of allowing solicitors to do their thing then get a moving date. Hopefully, 10-12 weeks and we will be in!

The initial phase pursuit course was fantastic! I loved the full 3 days and happy to say I've passed. To make it slightly sweeter, I did it whilst having a chest infection and tonsillitis so I'm rather pleased. Now, time for some rest and antibiotics

Head off to the parkrun this morning then get back and go to work. I am definitely one of the more fortunate officers who managed to get a job in the football department.

Well, Paris definitely lived up to expectations. The boys loved Disneyland and they even got a chance to go to the Eiffel tower too. The best 4 days away. Safe to say I'm bloody exhausted but it was all worth it.

Saw the consultant today and he has confirmed the only option is to go for surgery on my shoulder. Paperwork is all done, it's just a waiting game now. Hopefully it's after September as I have a lot of training next month to get through but I will soon be fixed

To cheer myself up, I've just applied for Baby Bears passport and purchased the hotel and parking for our little getaway to Disneyland Paris next year. Always a good feeling getting the holidays sorted for the family.

Well, I've had a few days to reflect and I'm gutted I didn't make the interview stage of the dogs process but, things happen for a reason.
I've picked up some overtime for Sunday to get back in the swing of things and I can't wait to be back out on the streets

So, the eldest boy went to see the doctors in the hospital and he is more than confident in saying he has tourettes. But, before they commit 100% we need to go see the neurologist team. Hopefully the appointment isn't too far away in the future.

It is with great sadness Lancashire Constabulary today (Sunday, December 10) announce the death of Assistant Chief Constable Peter Lawson.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends as this very sad and difficult time.

Just received a horrific phone call to say that one of my friends has sadly passed away today. Gaz Glug it was my absolute honour to say you were a part of mine and my family's lives. I will treasure the moments you shaved my hair off for charity close to my heart. Sleep tight x

Settling right into the new role now. The staff are great and work very hard! My inspector is very supportive and easy going. I'm now making decisions that will affect the force too which is crazy! I could get used to this I think.

Well after a day with my oldest boy going to football practice, then to look at new cars and the rugby game it's time to get sorted for work. I'm doing a shift as a call taker tonight. I've not done a night shift in a while so this might be tough.

Well that's me now on my 4 rest days. We had 4 high risk missing people through the shift, 3 located throughout the shift. I managed to find 2 which is great. Now it's time for a few hours sleep and relax until court on Friday.

Well, what a great course. The TRIM course was brilliant. A lot of work over two days but, I am so glad I did it. Hopefully, I will never need to use the course but, at least I know I am now better equipped if a colleague is struggling.

Well today is the last day at the wonderful, Police Treatment Centre. Sadly, intensive physio hasn't worked and I need further cortisone injections and an MRI scan with the view of possible surgery. The guys here are simply incredible and we're very lucky to have this place.

An office on my team had a bump at 10/15moh causing very minor damage. HOWEVER, the car he bumped was on their way to the vets with their dog which was getting out to sleep and was in the footwell at the time of the bump

Just had my Mam laugh at because I made a shandy with 0% Corona. She said, I'm even diluting a 0% drink and laughed at me.
I absolutely love a shandy and could drink it daily! I just prefer them alcohol free. Not all rugby players are stereotypical drinkers.

Well, first night back at work after a few weeks. I'm in the office but when you see the job showing on going burglary, I was out the officer like a flash. Luckily, I had the male stopped and he was found in possession of the belongings too which were stolen.

With me now having to be restricted until my MRI scan the only overtime I can do is call taking so a little refresher today and tomorrow to get back up to speed.

Another week in work before a week off with the kids before we head to the Atlas conference in the Cotswolds.

I had great fun today being a role play actor in the scenario for the new officers that are due out on the streets in 2 weeks time. I ended up getting locked up 3 X shop theft and 2 X public order from 5 scenarios.
