It’s unclear exactly why, but the Uyghur comments certainly could’ve played a factor. In China they banned showing any Arsenal games Özil played in, removed his fan club & erased his name from the internet - those would have financial implications on PL & the club. Regardless, Arsenal distancing themselves from his comments is the real moral issue here IMO.
