I think he can be average-above average across the board. Good Hard Hit%, AVG Exit Velo, and Bat speed from his limited MLB debut last season. Above average runner and solid defender at short. Needs to improve his approach and hit tool isn’t what it was once viewed as but I think he can be a 15/15-20/20 guy

@vaughan4444 @Smittys_cards There’s a very wide range of outcomes. Best case scenario he can be a Crochet-type ace with his stuff but needs to show he can handle a starter’s workload. He’s already 25 and has just over 70 career professional innings since 22’

@ZacheryGoldste4 Potentially, I do think he has the arsenal and command to stick as a starter and I like him a lot more on the Yankees than the Rangers or Reds

@JoeyDoughnuts_ Gave both him and Burke some consideration. Would like to see him cut down the walks, but with some mechanical tweaks I do think he can be an effective big league starter

@vaughan4444 @Smittys_cards The health scares the hell out of me honestly. From what I’ve heard there’s no innings limit on him in 25’ but I’ll believe he can handle a frontline starter’s workload when I see it.

I do my homework. Gotta give to get and it’s not always a testament to the player. This is the same organization that by your reasoning saw nothing in Yordan Alvarez or Oneil Cruz. Vargas had no path to regular playing time in LA and the Dodgers did what a contender would do and shipped him off for a critical piece in their WS victory last season

@vaughan4444 @Smittys_cards We’ll see how Teodo/Rosario/Santos/Drake pan out but certainly has looked more promising over the last year than a few years ago.

@i_backwards You can disagree with my opinions all you want. I really do not care. I stated my reasoning and you’re welcome to your opinion

@vaughan4444 @Smittys_cards As do I, also feel like it’s shortsighted to write him off with 7 big league innings under his belt

@Burgher362 They might have to unless they look at O’Neill as an everyday DH/Corner OF which personally I don’t think they do. He hit over 100 points lower against RHP with 110 strikeouts

@RaymondStern4 I think the Tigers feel the same way. If I was in charge of a team that should contend for a WC spot I would not pencil in Baez as an everyday SS. Much rather see what I have in Sweeney over an extended look, and I expect he’ll get a lot of looks at SS

@BeisbolScout Opportunity for regular playing time, and I think he can be a .260-.270 hitter with 15-20 HR and 15 SB. Not far removed from being a top MLB prospect and personally I don’t view Brandon Drury or Josh Rojas as significant competition blocking him from an everyday role
