Hi everyone just wanted to say thank you to all who liked my Aurora picture.
I took this from my back garden in Kirkwall. It’s has been an epic few days for the merry dancers.
Thank you for following Orkney Uncovered.
Ever wondered what a storm surge looks like going under a bridge?
On the way for my tour this morning I had to stop to get this vid at the Brig O’Waithe of high tide heading into the loch of Stenness.
Inside the incredible St Magnus Cathedral.
The Romanesque and Gothic architecture is stunning. Founded in 1137 AD the cathedral is a must see when visiting Kirkwall.
Following on from the amazing Aurora photos from Friday night, here is an absolute gem of a Milky Way shot from

who also lives on Stronsay.
There are 70 islands in the Orkney archipelago Stronsay being one of them.
Thank you Bill 🙏.
Stromness is such a lovely town. So many amazing wee lanes.
Hamnavoe restaurant on the left does amazing Asian and European type fusion food using the best of Orkney ingredients.
Walking the Khyber Pass in Stromness this afternoon.
Shorter and safer than its namesake this wee lane takes you past some lovely old buildings from when the Hudson’s Bay Company operated from the harbour town.
It always makes me laugh walking up the Khyber 🤣.
Duke and Duchess of Cambridge heading out of Kirkwall Marina this afternoon.
Think my stature and beard scared off all the paparazzi as I was in prime position at the end of the pier near the Kirkwall Marina.

My son Benjamin and I searched and found some of the dinosaur footprints on the island of Arran.
240 million years ago Chirotherium a giant reptile like a crocodile walked over here.
These are on the Kildonan coastline.

On the island of Hoy with my brother Sam today.
We have just seen a White Tailed Sea Eagle 🦅.
We saw it in flight and before it disappeared we viewed it via binoculars and using my iPhone 14 Pro on max zoom.
This is the best I could get. But how awesome!!
The beautiful Italian Chapel altar and hand painted frescos by WWII POW Domenico Chiocchetti.
The Italian Chapel is an iconic and historic building here in Orkney.
