On the 2nd of January, we gathered to celebrate the Silver Jubilee Anniversary of the Coronation of Sir Eze Prof. Ezeudo Sam Ifenwanta as the Ugwu I of Ugwu Ibere Autonomous Community. That was also the remarkable occasion of his 83rd birthday and the 74th birthday of his beloved wife, Lady Ugoeze Catherine Ugoji Ifenwanta. This occasion was important to me for two key reasons: First, Eze Prof. Ifenwanta found a lowly village boy like me, worthy to have the hands of his first daughter, Pastor Dame Princess Onuigbo JP, as my wife. Secondly, Eze Prof. Ifenwanta was my teacher, and also the man who played a fundamental role in my agelong decision to devote my life to service to humanity. In his unassuming way, he had provided solid grounding for me to get involved in community politics, but not in the usual way. For him, involvement in leadership must be anchored on love for the people, and visionary drive for excellence. So, the 2nd of January was indeed a great day for me and my family. May I use this opportunity to express my deep gratitude to everyone who made out time to join us. My special gratitude goes to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon @officialbenkalu CON, the Governor of Abia State His Excellency @alexottiofr who was represented by the Chairman of Ikwuano LGA, Dr Anthony Nwaubani; Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, Senator Austin Akobundu; Chairman of the Occasion, Sir Engr Kelechi Ogbonnaya KJW; the Medical Director, Prof Azubuike Onyebuchi; Dr Madukwe Ukaegbu, Commissioner, Federal Complaints Commission; and other heads of federal and state agencies. Thank you all for your prayers and support.

Okonjo-Iweala’s Re-appointment a Reflection of Nigerians’ Excellence-in-service Former Member of the House of Representatives for Ikwuano/Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency, Rep. Sir Sam Onuigbo, has described the re-appointment of Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala GCON as the Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), as proof that Nigerians exhibit remarkable excellence-in-service whenever they are called upon to serve. Onuigbo, who currently represents the South East on the Governing Board of the North East Development Commission (NEDC) stated this in a congratulatory message released in Abuja on Friday, 29 November, 2024. Recalling that Dr Okonjo-Iweala was his constituent during his time at the National Assembly, Rep Onuigbo stated that in every position which she has occupied, Dr Okonjo-Iweala has shone bright, reflecting what is best and noble about the Nigerian people. He expressed his confidence that she will continue on her present trajectory to bring reforms to the global trade architecture including the current effort at enshrining sustainable trade practices that reflect the need to decabornise international trade. On 29 November, the 166 members of the WTO achieved a consensus in re-appointing Dr Okonjo-Iweala for a second term. In her acceptance, she said: “This is an enormous responsibility and I will redouble my efforts to work with each and every member to try and deliver the results this organization needs, including the necessary reforms to make it fit for 21st century challenges.” She had earlier served as Managing Director, Operations, World Bank; Minister of Finance, Nigeria; Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Nigeria; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria; etc.
