Angel Square Islington, before and after. The previous building wasn’t perfect, but with upgrading and an activated street frontage, it had more to give.

Never forget the horror-show of when they filled it with sand and shrubs to become a porcupine enclosure.

So what next for the beloved yet redundant Penguin Pool? Lubetkin’s daughter, Sasha, infamously suggested blowing it up. We prefer this. More live music in unexpected modernist locales! 📷 by C20 Trustee @PhinHarper

Fantastic exhibition at @_TheWhitechapel on 50 years of dissent by artist @peterkennardx. Catch it before it closes on Saturday! Beyond the very well known works (CND, Stop the War Coalition and others), his photomontages of activism in architectural form are really fun.

@ShakeyStephens @Londonist Under the current proposals, the concourse roof at Liverpool Street Station would be demolished and an office block built overhead. This was built in 1990-92 to closely match the ornate Victorian trainshed roof, and was Grade II listed in 2022.

@GarryLavin @TheWho Yup. It was a drain built into a slag heap from Bond’s Main colliery to prevent landslips, gradually filled in and turned into farmland. Full story here: Location info and photos by John Hirst

Wonderful new glasshouse at Cliffe Castle in Keighley. Originally built 1875, demolished in the 1950s, and recreated in 2017 as part of a £4.5 million renovation project. Local museums for the win.
