We are proud to share that Olds College welding instructor James Palidwar has been awarded the prestigious American Welding Society (AWS) Educators Scholarship. The scholarship, valued at up to $5,000, supports welding educators in advancing their skills. Last week, AWS leaders Michael Krupnicki (president), Darryl Fischer (local chair), and Boyce Towell (district director) visited the campus to observe Palidwar teaching a Grade 9 Dual Credit welding class. Through our Dual Credit Program with Chinook's Edge School Division, 264 students this year are learning technical skills like welding and developing life skills like teamwork and problem-solving. Programs like this are helping students graduate high school and step into high-demand trades careers confidently. Palidwar’s scholarship will support his Master of Education studies, further enabling him to inspire students to explore rewarding futures in skilled trades.
