Taking up old flags, putting down new for the crews of the H. L. Hunley. We ride three times a year from Myrtle Beach to Magnolia Cemetery at Charleston, SC for this specific purpose. The brother on the left is also a stage 4 Colon Cancer survivor. He never misses these rides.

Humbled to receive this award today at our state reunion in North Myrtle Beach. Mr. Altman and the late Mr. Thompson, both retired from the SC Highway Patrol, spent countless miles and hours documenting Confederate soldiers in our county. Named for them, award was unexpected.

SC SCVMC Low Country Crew, rode through a bumpy , hole ridden field to place a flag at the grave of a Confederate soldier in a wilderness cemetery. Also flagged soldiers at two other cemeteries as well. The one will be cleaned in the fall by our SCV camp.

Final resting place of my GG Uncle, William S. Fisher, 3rd NC, Co. C. I joined the SCV under his service in 2011. Had part of his right hand blown off at the Battle of Paynes Farm in Virginia. Spent the rest of his days a one-armed farmer and Baptist minister.

Final resting place of my ancestral cousin, Wellington Murphy, 38th NC Co. K. Though discharged from the Confederate Army due to wounds and sent home to recover, he was pulled from his home and his mother forced to watch as Union troops shot him through the head. 24 years old.

What an honor it was to be sworn into the ranks of the Copperheads historical motorcycle group yesterday. At the grave of Brigadier General Maxy Gregg of South Carolina who died December 15th, 1862 from wounds received two day earlier at the Battle of Fredericksburg.
