I also want to add.. many Indigenous people don’t even wear certain things on or with their regalia, jewelry, have certain tattoos, participate in certain cultural practices because they feel or know they haven’t earned the right to. So this is highly disrespectful.

I’ll always mourn what genocide took away from my people. My great grandpa and great aunt were one of the few fluent speakers of the Seminole language. My great aunt was only fluent in Seminole. Our family couldn’t even talk to her and I always wonder how lonely that felt.

I can see why she said this because there are pros/cons to her statement. However, it really hurts small businesses to take away opportunities that could benefit them. Also, people should be more aware that small businesses do not function the same way as corporations do.

I wanted to state that she wasn’t particularly talking about hand-made items but a lot of small businesses (even make up/beauty) put a lot of time and effort to ensure the quality, designs, service etc. for their business is good and deserve recognition when it can be given.

I really didn’t mean everyone in the world when it came to this viewpoint, it was an exaggeration. I mean more of in America because it isn’t a lot compared to a lot of other people. I’m just glad I’m able to break a long cycle of poverty but also sad it’s taken this long.
