There is a factually incorrect information in circulation in some media about dousing of fire at Baghjan blowout well. The main operation for capping & killing the well is yet to begin. The well continues to be on fire.
Indian Army's support was taken today for placing some of their materials on the plinth for further strengthening of the same for ease of movement of heavy vehicles at Baghjan well site...Oil India thanks Indian Army for their indomitable spirit and wholehearted support.
While removing the spool during blowout control operations at Baghjan well no.5, three experts from M/s Alert sustained minor injuries. Treatment was provided immediately to the injured experts.

OIL Gas well Baghjan Blowout..... Experts from M/s Alert Disaster Control visited the Gas Well Blowout site at Baghjan today to take a closer look at the crisis.
While the clearing operations were on at the well site, the well caught fire.There is no casualty reported. Fire tenders are at the site controlling the spread of fire. There r violent protests around the well site. Once the situation is normal, the experts will move to the site.
A false news and rumour is in circulation in a section of the media alleging that OIL has brought a Tantrik from Uttar Pradesh and conducted some rituals at Baghjan blowout well. This is an absolute fake news which is attempting to malign OIL’s image.
OilIndians in all OIL spheres observed two minute silence and lit candles to pay homage to the brave firefighters of Oil India Limited who laid their lives in the line of duty.
15 numbers of trucks loaded with materials for Bailey Bridge mobilized from 3 Corps Indian Army, Misamari, Tezpur reached Baghjan and preliminary work is in progress.
Crew members of OIL, ONGC, Alert, Schlumberger and other Contractors are at site and the final preparation for placing Capping Stack is underway. The Capping stack is ready and is wrapped up with Ceramic blanket and Ceramic cloths. The tubing head spool was removed yesterday.
As committed by OIL, Mrs. Purabi Gogoi, wife of Late Durlov Gogoi who had died while on duty during the Blowout at Baghjan has been appointed by OIL on compassionate ground.

Army (2 Mountain division) assessing at ground zero Baghjan near the blowout well. The Army is helping build a temporary pontoon bridge of around 150 metre length over a water body adjacent to the blowout well.
