I invite you to reflect on your life story, both the roads that took you where you are now and the roads you would like to choose in the present. Welcome home 🀝.

Why don’t we hear about Anaesthesiologists, like other specialists? My three speculations: 1) You don’t hear about anaesthesiologists because it is a low key specialty. They are like War Generals. They do pivotal work but the King & Queen (surgeons) take all the glory and accolades from the populace (patients & carers). If you like gather ten surgeons for your surgery, there won’t be knife on skin till Anaesthesiologist is seated. 2) Generally, the speciality beckons to quiet minds, imo. They sit (& stand) peacefully through surgeries, providing a grounding effect to the operating room. Even the most grandiose surgeon is unconsciously gauging himself against the serenity of the anaesthesiologist. A worried anaesthesiologist triggers a panicky OR. This personality trait makes it more likely for them to move stealthily on social media (except one very loud one πŸ˜›πŸ«΅). So, you may not see them writing self aggrandising threads on twitter. 3) Anaesthesiology is a protected speciality. They are few in number and highly sought after. Awareness may not be high about their roles. It would be great if there more people going into the speciality. Do you agree with any of the three or you have your own hypothesis? So I’ve been told that in OAU, it is possible to study medicine after Dentistry and it’s a 2 year program. There are a few conditions though. I believe they prioritize graduates of OAU for this program. I don’t know of any other schools in Nigeria that offer this.

Emotional intelligence is also knowing that you don't need to necessarily say what's on your mind at certain times no matter how true or correct it might be.
