To increase awareness of the state of development and improve knowledge-sharing across the ocean-climate community, Ocean Visions has built a database of all known marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR) field trials. The tool includes information on the different mCDR pathways being tested, details of carbon dioxide sequestration, MRV strategy, and lessons learned from the trials. #OceanClimateSolutions #mCDR Take a look!

The bipartisan Carbon Removal Investment Act, sponsored by Senators Michael Bennet (D-CO) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), takes crucial steps toward supporting U.S. companies seeking to remove CO2 pollution, including through marine #carbonremoval, while also protecting #oceanhealth by establishing science-based environmental safety standards. As the world looks to meet ambitious climate goals, we must ensure our policies enable the responsible scaling of these essential technologies.
The new tax credit would widen the support approaches from the 45Qs focus on direct air capture (DAC) and bio-energy with carbon capture (BECCS) to enhanced rock weathering, marine carbon removal and those focused on using biomass.

Launchpad Spotlight: @BanyuCarbon Ocean Visions’ Launchpad program provides expert support to select innovators developing marine carbon dioxide removal strategies, like Banyu Carbon. Banyu Carbon employs a simple, light-driven process to remove carbon dioxide from ocean surface waters, allowing for additional carbon to be reabsorbed from the air. Captured CO2 can then be stored in geological formations or used in long-lived products. Meet Banyu Carbon: #OceanClimateSolutions #ClimateChange #CarbonRemoval
