Elmwood Park recently started using ShotSpotter. Last month it was used in the arrest of two men involved in a shots-fired incident. Cops also recovered a gun and bullet casings. This video shows ShotSpotter's detection of the gunshots. #ShotSpotter #ElmwoodPark

Oak Park resident robbed at gunpoint on Clinton south of Madison by three men yesterday evening. From Police: Victim was working in the rear on the 600 block of Clinton when a black Ford Escape stopped in front of his work van. Three male black subjects holding handguns exited and announced a robbery. The three offenders ordered him to the ground and went through his pockets removing two cell phones, a black wallet and keys. Offenders fled southbound in their vehicle. #ChicagoScanner #OakPark

EXCLUSIVE: I've compiled scanner audio from this morning's mass shooting on the CTA Blue Line, in which 4 people were killed. The first part is when CTA initially discovered the bodies, the second part is Forest Park FD dispatch (Westcom), and the third part is CPD taking the offender into custody. Three victims were found deceased on one railcar, and a fourth victim was found with a faint pulse on a second railcar. The fourth victim was transported to an area hospital where they were pronounced deceased. Shell casings littered the railcar. #ChicagoScanner #Chicago

@Econ101_author There is WAY more crime than gets reported. I'd guess about 1/3 to 1/2 of retail theft calls are not recorded as such because the retailer won't sign complaints. They've long learned that there's no point. If they won't sign, cops don't respond.

@beherenowm Great point. The only media we have in Oak Park is the Wednesday Journal. Their coverage of crime is limited. Citizens want to know what is going on in their neighborhoods beyond rumors.

An Oak Park resident was shot inside his garage after trying to grab the gun of the man trying to rob him. Happened Tuesday morning on the 800 block of N Humphrey. 💥💥 From Police: The victim was inside his garage when a male offender exited a small black newer SUV with tinted windows and removed a gun from his waistband. The offender pointed the gun at the victim. The victim attempted to grab the gun but was unsuccessful. The offender fired two shots at the victim, striking him in the leg. The offender then fled in the vehicle S/B in the alley. #ChicagoScanner #OakPark
