It is clear that there is a culture of abuse and sexual misconduct in political parties.

Absolutely disgraceful to hear that the partner of the ex-MP Peter Bone, who was suspended for sexual misconduct and thus caused this by-election, has been selected. What message does this give to survivors of sexual assault?
Last week we delivered our open letter to the HQ’s of the Conservative Party, Labour Party, Liberal Democrats, and the Green Party, to demand the end of sexual harassment in politics.
@RishiSunak
Do you not agree that
#WestminsterIsBroken

Today, members from the OVM team hand-delivered the open letter signed by over 500 of you to all of the major political parties in the UK. We hope to see all of the parties engage with our goal to end sexual harassment in politics
@LibDems
@UKLabour
@Conservatives
@TheGreenParty
We're extremely disheartened to see
@UKLabour
accept someone who, as reported in The Times, defended their now-jailed former partner for their sex offences and tormented their victims. What does this say about Labour's attitude towards sexual assault victims?
Natalie Elphicke, who has just been welcomed to the Labour Party by Sir Keir Starmer, cruelly and publicly tormented the victims of her sex offender ex-husband Charlie.
She claimed ***after his conviction*** that he had merely been punished for being "attractive and attracted"
At OVM we want to reiterate that we firmly believe that trans rights are human rights, and trans women are women, and we will always fight in solidarity with our trans siblings 🏳️⚧️🤍
We’ve hit 450 signatures, but most of our signatures are from Labour; we want 100 signatures per party before we send it off.
Please keep signing and sharing, particularly if you’re a Conservative, Lib Dem or Green, or any other party ✍🏻
Absolutely sickening to hear that yet another MP has been arrested on suspicion of rape. This is a deep rooted issue that emerges from a toxic culture in politics; a general election alone won’t fix this. We need action NOW.
It’s been exactly 2 months since we sent our open letter with over 500 signatures to all the political parties in the UK, yet we’ve still not had a single response.
We think it’s time to take this to the next level… 🤫
Extremely concerning that an MP who has been under investigation since 2020 and arrested in 2022 for sexual offences is seen posing with the same police force that are investigating him. What message does this give to survivors?
I was proud to join the White Ribbon Day campaign stall held in South Street, Romford yesterday with April from
@Walk__it__out
who is doing such an amazing job to fight violence against women and girls, along with our superb
@MPSRomfordTown
who keep us safe in Romford! 🤍🇬🇧
It has been over 2 weeks since we delivered our open letter to each of the major political parties in the UK, and yet we’ve still had no response from any of them.
@Conservatives
@UKLabour
@LibDems
@TheGreenParty
we’ve had enough of sexual harassment in politics, haven’t you?
We are incredibly disappointed, but also not surprised, that another politician has been charged with serious sex offences. OVM hopes that the victims can receive fair justice. The political environment needs to change immediately

After yesterday, I'm done hiding as a victim. I was raped & physically abused by a Tory MP. I tried to report it in 2020,the Chief Whip told me to get over it & did nothing. I have medical records,months of rape counselling notes, my parents' first hand evidence. He is still a MP
Welcome to Our Voice Matters, a cross-party campaign urging parties to take action on sexual harassment. Today we are launching our research into sexual harassment, to ensure we are victim-centred and campaign for issues that are most important to you. This is how you can help:
We are all incredibly proud of our founder

The second paragraph of this article describes exactly why we need this - there’s a ban on sex offenders standing in council elections in England and Wales - why not MPs? It’s appalling that this isn’t in place already.
‘We’re protecting women and girls’ says the man whose party has had 9 MP’s suspended for sexual misconduct since the last general election alone.
Tell us again how you’re protecting women and girls? 🤔
Today is International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls, and at OVM we are incredibly passionate about how the gender inequality within politics creates a culture of sexual misconduct. Will you help to

Not only is this rhetoric on its own deeply misogynistic and damaging, being broadcast on television only encourages more abuse towards those already marginalised. Solidarity Ava ✊🏻❤️
It’s this entrenched misogyny that we fight against
Shame on the

Apsana’s case proves that the complaints procedure in the Labour Party is disgraceful, and the tiresome wait just cases more damage and trauma. No wonder victims don’t report. Sending love to you Apsana 🤍
Unfortunately cases like this are no longer surprising, and shows us how horribly ingrained sexual assault is in our society, particularly in male dominated industries such as comedy and politics. Solidarity to all of his victims ✊

We still need your help to get as many signatures as possible, so please continue to share to help fight sexual harassment 🙏
I was assaulted by a senior Lib Dem four years ago today.
Then on 16th Dec, Willie Rennie told me not to report him as it wasn’t sexual. The Man had bullied me for over a year. Now he was touching me. I was scared. Willie told me I’d not get selected if I reported.

Delighted to hear that the recall petition was successful but still incredibly heartbreaking to think about the impact on his victim/s. Trauma can last forever.
BREAKING:
A By-election will take place in Wellingborough after 13.2% of the electorate vote for the recall petition to remove Peter Bone after he was suspended for bullying & exposing himself.
With just 2 days til our launch, we’re getting busy behind the scenes. We’re looking for any organisations who may be interested in partnering with us, or offering us support.
Sounds like you, or your organisation? 👀 Please get in touch 💬
🗳️ Reminder that you have until 11:59pm tomorrow (Tuesday 16th April) to register to vote in the upcoming local elections!

It’s hopeful to see the Young Fabians’ taking this seriously and suspending the accused members during investigations, but saddening to hear of the situation. We hope all complainants feel safe and supported during this time.
🔎 The Fabian Society has launched a review of the Young Fabians’ culture and suspended its in-person activities, elections and committee, after a complaint about several members, LabourList can reveal.

Everyone deserves the right to engage in democracy and change without the fear of sexual violence. This Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we are urging all those involved in UK Politics to help us put an end to sexual harassment in politics.

Merry Christmas from everyone in the OVM team 🎄🥰
Although drinking alcohol is a common way of celebrating the holidays, please keep your friends and family happy and safe, and ensure christmas (and every day!) is sexual harassment free 🤍

More than 50 MP’s face allegations of sexual misconduct; even 1 is too many. The power imbalance between MP’s and staffers mean that Westminster is no longer a safe place to work - when will this end?
🚨 || Peter Bone MP (CON, Wellingborough) is set to recieve a 6-week suspension from the House of Commons for 'varied acts of bullying and one act of sexual misconduct'.
This will trigger a recall petition within the constituency.
Yesterday was
#AskHerToStand
day, and although it’s incredibly important we strive for gender equality within politics, it’s no wonder that women are hesitant to enter the industry when it’s embroiled with sexual misconduct.
We’re currently in the process of organising sexual harassment training for local parties and societies in partnership with a charity.
Please use the form below to register your interest, and we will keep you updated on how to apply once it has opened ⬇️

What makes this case even worse is that unlike Westminster, there is no recall procedure in the Senedd, meaning this temporary suspension is all they can do until the general election. A temporary suspension is not justice.
A politician is to be banned from the Senedd for six weeks after he was found to have inappropriately touched and swore at two women while he was drunk on a night out
Opposers to this vote include an MP who blocked a bill calling for upskirting to be a specific offence, and an MP who has consistently campaigned against feminism and women’s rights. It’s again evident that
