Rest in peace to one of the great sluggers Willie McCovey, today he passed away at the age of 80. In his career he hit 521 home runs and won the MVP in 1969 and as MLB historian John Thorn recalled "he had the most beautiful, terrifying swing of his generation"

Franklin Field, Philadelphia 12/26/60 - I have a rule when it comes to posting NFL photos - it has to be in MLB ballpark. I'm breaking the rule because this photo of Paul Hornung kicking a FG in Packers-Eagles 1960 NFL title game is good as it gets when it comes to sports photos

Candlestick Park, San Francisco, ca 1960 - Different view I've never seen before, I surmise that from the models of the cars this photo was shot after the ballpark opened. Either way what a time to drive a car, look at all those beauties! That Oldsmobile needs a paint job though

Polo Grounds, Manhattan, 1934 - Found no date with this photo but I'm 99.9% sure its from 1934 (Opening Day?), on front the marquee says "World Champions" and 1933 was only year Giants won series before lights were installed (1940) and after the Polo Grounds was enclosed (1923)

Here is a wonderful aerial view of Comiskey Park during the 1959 World Series between the White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers. Only World Series in a 16-year-span (1949-1964) that a New York team was not involved. Dodgers won the series in six games

Astrodome, Houston, 1964 - One of my favorite photos of the "Eighth Wonder of the World" under construction. But as cool as seeing the Astros new ballpark being built is, how about that hot-looking 1963 Chevy Impala in the front of it? Even the color rocks
