Why did I decide to join the Conservative Party? In a nutshell, I realised the responsible, socially mobile society I believe in starts with personal responsibility.
My attempt to explain my ‘political journey’ in the

Very funny to see some questioning this video of me chatting with

It is real! And I joined the

on the 5th of July in part to support Kemi and this is why:
I also happen to be one of the youngest people in history to stand
He left the Labour Party to vote for

We need someone who can win people over from all sides and grow our party again. Kemi is already doing that.
It was utterly wrong for Jeremy Bowen to interview a leader of the Hamas devils.

History tells us *all* voters respond best to two attributes above all: 1) authenticity and 2) a clear set of values.
@KemiBadenoch
has both in abundance.
This is why she’s best placed to defeat Starmer, as I explained for

Anyone can do policies and promises. But true change requires vision, which means starting with ‘why’ rather than what, as all great leaders do.
@KemiBadenoch
understands this - and it’s why she must be the next leader of the Conservative Party. My take for
@ConHome
👇🏻
From Thatcher to Salisbury, great leaders have always possessed a clear vision. It’s what ensures they ask ‘why’ rather than only ‘what’, never loosing sight of their long term goals.
My piece for

on why this means
@KemiBadenoch
must be the next

I genuinely don’t think people understand the level of threat we face as a country, including our government it seems. The fact the head of MI5 is saying this publicly - which is unprecedented- shows no one is listening in private.
🚨 NEW: The head of MI5 has said that Russia is on a mission to create chaos on UK streets as he warned Britain faces the most "complex and interconnected" threat it has ever encountered

This is also what happens when you spend years playing student politics in opposition and then suddenly want to be seen as the “grown-ups.” It’s not how it works.
🚨 NEW: Tony Blair’s Press Secretary Alastair Campbell has accused the press of of holding Labour governments to a ‘much higher standard’ than Tory governments
“Angela Rayner had an opinion when Boris Johnson was getting money from donors…now you've got someone who has a luxury glasses habit who's taking money from pensioners.”

Although I’m supporting
@renewal2030

(He’s also a true gent based on my brief interaction with him at
@ToriesinComms
).
To everyone who backed our campaign - thank you!
Your energy, your ideas and your support have shown a vision of what our party could become.
Our campaign has ended but our commitment to our country continues.
The mentality of the left summed up in a few sentences.
They see politics and the world as a zero-sum game: it’s not enough for one group to ‘win’. Someone also has to ‘lose’. And when that someone is the better off, they find it all the more satisfying.
Our state schools need teachers more than private schools need embossed stationery.
Our children need mental health support more than private schools need new pools.
Our students need careers advice more than private schools need AstroTurf pitches.
Do they genuinely believe this GCSE-level political analysis? Or are they simply saying what they think their audience wants to hear? Unsure what’s worse.
“The people who will be most pleased about this result is No 10 Downing Street.”
With Cleverly out of the Tory leadership race, the Labour Party now has certainty it will face an opposition 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘮𝘭𝘺 on the right.

Genuine question: do you not think this is a little redundant likely four-five years away from an election? And could actually prove to be a real vulnerability if the situation/facts change (which they likely will) resulting in u-turns and backtracking?
I suspect many FTSE CEOs will feel more than puzzled about being taken for fools, having been told how great life under Labour will be. Now reality is kicking in.
Top execs warn they are still waiting for Starmer’s growth plans
They’re puzzled by the decision to go ahead with the investment summit before Reeves’ budget
And say so far there’s been a lack of a plan to entice investors

Very interesting read! Don’t disagree with the premise. Unfortunately, though it seems VAT is inconsistently applied across the board, even within education. Perhaps the real issue is the existence of VAT.

100%. The centre ground doesn’t exist - what the media refers to as ‘the centre ground’ is simply having a clear vision and set of policies that resonates with the majority of voters at the given time. By definition, the centre ground also moves around - i.e. the ‘centre’ in 1983
@lukerobertblack
And let’s also be honest that this was the same government who in 2020 nationalised entire sectors and spent £70bn paying the wages of eight million people for over a year. National emergency or not, I don’t think Thatcher would have ever countenanced this.
The left views the world as they want it to be, rather than how it is. This is why, as history shows, they’re nearly always proved wrong. And it’s the very people Vince claims to care about who end up paying the price.
@AEHALL1983
That makes a lot of sense (strong analogy too!).
My concern - partly informed by being an outsider for most of the last ten years - is many of our problems in government can be summarised as ‘over promising and underdelivering’ in the minds of voters. Based on this, I am a
What’s even more insulting is the BBC framing this segment around the first anniversary of October 7th.
Would the BBC invite an ISIS spokesperson on for the anniversary of the Paris attacks?
Many are uncomfortable about ID cards with justification, but overall, this feels like a pragmatic response that would protect more freedoms and civil liberties than it would require us to relinquish.

All good questions, and perhaps if, for the last fifteen years, Tory leaders had possessed true vision, based on clear ideology, true to conservative values, these questions would not require answers.
@FT
This is a badly informed article. The reason carried interest is taxed at a lower rate than bonuses is that the risk is substantially higher in most cases. For example, investment bankers do not put personal assets on the line, but PE managers often do - and increasingly so.
