A whole community has made their livelihood off the incarceration of Black and Brown folks, but now they’re in shambles because the prison is slated to close. This my favorite song right now.
A former logging town in rural California grew to depend on prisons for jobs. Now that one's closing, dozens of homes are for sale, schools may consolidate, and businesses are fearing layoffs as the town shrinks.
