At around 8:45pm, deputies responded to the 31000 block of Golden Lantern in the City of Laguna Niguel to conduct a welfare check. When they arrived, they heard what they believed were gun shots coming from a residence.
Deputies on scene at Walmart 27480 Alicia Parkway reference an Officer involved shooting. There is currently no danger to the public. Suspect has been taken into custody. This incident is an ongoing investigation.

No one was shot and no one was injured. After a short time, a male subject peacefully surrendered to deputies. There is no threat to the community and the investigation is still on going.

UPDATE: Last night, we shared about an incident near Golden Lantern & Chapparosa Park involving deputies conducting a welfare check. The welfare check occurred because a man fired a weapon inside a residence during a family disturbance. Thankfully, no family members were injured.
Deputies are in the area of Crown Valley and Niguel Rd. looking for a subject related to an identity theft. Air support is above assisting with coordinating the deputies on the ground. K9’s are also assisting. Please report any suspicious activity to dispatch.
The warrant involved wanted subjects who committed crimes in Santa Ana. Five subjects were arrested and several weapons were confiscated. We apologize for the inconvenience but it was necessary to apprehend these individuals to keep our community safe.

Laguna Niguel Police Services has received several calls about a Nextdoor post regarding an abused dog. Our deputies have been to the residence in question. We can say without a doubt, the accusations are absolutely false.
During the welfare check, the man is suspected of firing a weapon in the direction of the deputies. Deputies did not return fire, and no one was shot. The man peacefully surrendered to deputies a short time later.
Investigators with the Orange County Sheriff’s Major Accident Reconstruction Team have arrested a man suspected of hitting a woman with his vehicle, causing serious injury, and fleeing the scene.
Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences are with Deputy Joseph Solano’s family and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department during this difficult time. We are deeply saddened by the loss of our fellow brother. Rest In Peace, Joseph.

Southbound lanes of Golden Lantern have been reopened. The road closure was due to a traffic collision between a motorcycle and sedan. Unfortunately, the driver of the motorcycle lost his life as a result of the traffic collision.

Yesterday afternoon, on Nov.27, a business located near Heather Ridge/Avila Rd. reported a male subject stole merchandise and displayed a knife while fleeing.

Evidence at the scene indicates the hit-and-run vehicle may be a dark colored 2014-2018 Subaru Forester. The vehicle sustained damage to the front right and side view mirror. After the collision, the vehicle is believed to have fled westbound on Crown Valley Pkwy toward PCH.

The city of Laguna Niguel contracts with Mission Viejo Animal Services. Mission Viejo Animal Services has been to the home numerous times and has come to the same conclusion.
Deputies were dispatched to the area of Paseo De Colinas and Cabot Road for a single vehicle collision. Unfortunately the vehicle took out an electrical box and knocked out power in the area. SDG&E is on scene and hope to have power restored in the next couple of hours.
