A more critical barrier that appears overlooked by your commission is the bureaucracy that pervades academic medicine. The current systems are complex, unwieldy, and excessively repetitive. This issue was raised in the 2022 Tickell Independent Review…⁦@lifecourse_KCL

The CRADLE device is robust and repair solutions are low cost but require logistical support at local and national levels. The majority can be fixed at the healthcare facility with minimal training if spare parts are available.

I’m a huge fan of the NHS. The staff and clinicians are world leading. But the processes and facilities are creaking. A colleague of mine spent 2 nights sleeping in a chair in A&E last week before a bed was available. It needs resource and we need to pay. You will need it.

There is a need for cervical scanning to be available for symptomatic women as prediction is the key to allow targetted interventions and improved outcomes. We urgently need training programmes while alternative biomarkers are evaluated in the UK.
