I won’t let another bad job do this to me ever again ❤️

Second one in 6 months due to financial difficulties with the companies.
This time with no severance.
If anyone is hiring please let me know!
Experienced web developer with a background in teaching and programming.

I applied to 175 jobs, I had 3 interviews go past a phone screen and 2 offers. One was far, paid low, the second I accepted. I was rejected or ignored for nearly 200 jobs lol
Had the most wonderful interview this morning & they invited me to a tech interview Thursday. Please please please wish me good luck this week! If I get this job it's literally going to make 9/10 of my dreams come true! Python work until then!

I've met with so many tech newbies recently and everyone has asked the same thing. "When is JavaScript going to click???"
I'm going to start sharing my old tweets of when I struggled with it and PHP 🤣
Please know you're not alone 🙂
My parents lost their home when I was a teen.
It was the house my grandparents purchased.
My aunt delivered me 2 months early in that house.
I grew up there.
2 years into tech I bought that house and land back for them.
One day I hope to remodel it for them. ❤️
When I was a kid, I was so envious of my well off friends who had fridges with ice dispensers. We couldn't afford those nice fridges so I waited overnight for my ice trays to freeze to get ice cubes.
My dumb "made it" dream was to get one of those fridges someday. Now I finally
I said at 18 I would be making 6 figures by 30. Last month I thought about that and laughed. Today 2 days before my 30th birthday I signed a contract that will have me making 6 figures a year!
Life’s funny sometimes 🥴
But also
I GOT THE JOB!
I let depression get the better of me and for months I stopped taking care of my health, and home.
Yesterday, I started running again for the first time in months and completely reorganized my house. I’m slowly getting back. It might not seem like much but this is a lot for me
Coronavirus thread about my hometown: Camden, South Carolina. A small town which saw one of the first bad outbreaks of COVID19 in South Carolina and is a hot bed today. I'll link articles and all that I know.
I have some news! I didn’t spread this news because as soon as I found out I left for

I was laid off last month and I was searching for a new developer role.
You want to talk about stressed? 😅
Well, I signed my contract for my new role as a Full Stack Web Developer! 😁
2 years ago I wrote about why everyone should read ABBOTT by the very talented Saladin Ahmed and now we are getting a sequel! Please pick up the original run if you haven't it's amazing!
I lost one of my best friends yesterday, first time in my life I've ever had a close friend die.
All we talked about lately was what we needed to do to live better.
Life is too short to be stuck in bad situations.
If you are thinking about changing, do it. Don't wait.
Just got another amazing job opportunity. I’m telling you vision boards work because I def put that on there 🥹
My dev skills have scaled up considerably, my writing, and my speaking. I’m taking things over in 2024 🥹🙌🏾♥️

Day 87 of
#100DaysOfCode
Spent all that time feeling like I wasn’t good enough and a major company is letting me teach what “I wasn’t good enough for.”
And I ain’t done yet. 👏🏾 😏
If I land this client today, I was told his entire organization is looking for a developer like me.
Whew if I can work for myself and LinkedIn the rest of the year, I’ll be a happy camper ☺️

The job fair went AMAZING! 1 of the biggest tech companies in the city told me I had the best resume by far of anyone at the fair and one of the best they’d ever seen! I got so many personal emails and phone numbers! I’m going to have a tech job soon!
Day 81 of
#100DaysOfCode
I didn't want to have to do this but oh well let's do it.
I spent the entire weekend listening to a bunch of nonsense after hearing the most racist stuff I've heard since I've entered the
#WordPress
community.
I tried to talk it out but since I cannot "prove" racism happened.
I received hundreds of new followers and messages overnight! I’m still responding and following back before work!
Nice to meet you all new tech family! I hope you kick Wednesdays butt! 🙂👋🏾
Layoffs, terrible jobs, lack of work.
I've talked to different people about the state the job market, and combined their stories into a project to help others who may be struggling.
May I present to you, the Hopeful Workspace Podcast
People made fun of the "gig economy" but the truth is, unless you're working multiple side hustles right now, there's no guarantee that you'll be ok. These companies will let you go in a heartbeat.
It means a lot to me to have all the support from yall that I do.
Seriously.
The day after I announced I was hired on my LinkedIn and 15 minutes before I met my producer I was laid off. I woke up that morning excited about my future and went to bed that night terrified.
*Takes a deep breath
Last weekend I had baby Cooper, we went to the park, pool and he would not let go of this Wappu so I taught him custom block building as well.
People “think” I’m an easy target and that’s why they go after me.
Little do they know I’m printing all these emails out and bringing them to WordCamp Europe next year and passing them out like merchandise in the vendor hall.
If you want to be funny I can get hilarious.
I’ve seen a few posts for this book and downloaded a few days ago. I’m going to give yall an overview of what it’s saying:
If you’re sad, that’s your fault. Don’t be sad. If you have trauma let it go.
That’s it. 😅
I’m telling everyone who will listen. Start your year with this. A lot of what we think and believe is based off of Freudian thoughts but this is a whole different take on so many things. If you need an audible credit, I have a few

I can finally share. My cousin tested positive for COVID19 and has been in New Orleans on a ventilator for the past couple of days. As of yesterday she was taken off, is awake and talking and will be going home soon!!!
I talk to black and brown people from all over the world and I try to convince them to get into WordPress as a way to start their tech career.
I hope I didn’t lose any credibility with you all today, the community is so much better than the absolute shit show today was.
I cannot wait for the pride party. I bought a new outfit for the occasion and I can’t wait to celebrate all my LGBTQ+ fam! People’s lives aren’t an agenda.
Here for you all no matter what.
Day 90 of
#100DaysOfCode
I have a brilliant idea of a site I want to make but I need to be better at react first. This might be the site that lands me a dream job so to typing I go.
Well after I wash dishes 🥴
Hey folks, I’m changing my phone number, if you need to reach me, via my website, is the best way.
I’ve also been extremely sick the last few days, I haven’t been responding to anything but emails.
I’ll keep my account up for a little while but again pls no texts.
I wanted to highlight three (of many) smaller WordCamps coming up that could use your support!
Sending love to WordCamp Masaka, WordCamp Iloilo City, and WordCamp Katmandu!

This is my husbands first time holding a baby and the sheer terror on his face was enough to make the whole room laugh lmaoooooo
Our new niece is here! Welcome to the world baby Ivy 🥰
I don't know who reads my tweets and who doesn't.
I want us to have a conversation about calling out racism/diversity/inclusion.
And people...instead of you know addressing what happened saying it caused them mental harm.
Let's talk about this. A Thread
I've been burnt out and as a result neglected some marketing, content creating, and website rebuilt work I had planned.
Now I'm back in go mode.
I can get back into showing my creative side again and I'm really happy about that.
So hiya folks 🙂
I am stepping down as a co-rep of the marketing team to focus on my life and career. I hope to pivot out of WordPress development completely save for a few side projects that I have been trying to debut for months now. But I’ve had to keep putting them on hold.
I read a stat that said entry level developers get 23 rejections before they get full time on average. Some I've watched said they got upwards to a 100 to 150 rejects before they got full time work. So I thought why not test it out?
If you're curious as to what I'm turning my custom block into, here's a preview.
My family has a pretty interesting story in American history and I feel like it's time to start telling it 😃
#WordPress
blocks are going to help me do that.
Pivoting my account to more tech in general like it used to be 🙂
You’ll still get WordPress but not as much 🙂
Revamping my mentoring as a lot of my current mentees have jobs now 🥰
Jumping into learning some new things and I can’t wait to share them ❤️
Sometimes I wonder what I could’ve possibly done to make people have such strong belief in me. 😅
But whatever it is, I won’t let them down. 💪🏽
This shall be a glorious week. 😌
Deactivated facebook and my personal twitter. Focusing more so on a project and code for the next 2 weeks. I've been sleeping terribly and coffee has been my life partner.
I need to focus more on my goals.

Round 2
I’m also super thankful for LinkedIn. Giving me the ability to show the world my skills and teach others while also paying me fairly and making sure I’m ok. I’ve never respected a company more.
If you are struggling to find a tech job right now, don’t be ashamed to take a job outside of tech.
I was very ashamed when I started my first job, felt like a failure after all I had gone through.
But if you don’t take care of yourself, no one else will either.
