The "Getting Ready for Year 7" panel at #NovocoNMTC reminds the audience to "begin with the end in mind" and highlights what different participants in a transaction want at the end of the compliance period.

Christopher Allison, NMTC program manager at @CDFIFund, tells #NovocoNMTC attendees that CY 2024-2025 awards will be made before the end of the year. "Our plan is to award these before the end of 2025 and we're still on track with that." CDFI Fund panel sponsored by the @NMTCWG.

Jeff McMillen of @akin_gump , tells #NovocoNMTC attendees that for NMTC permanence, "things are aligned. (A major tax bill) is something the president wants done by Memorial Day ... this is a year to make a run at real permanence."

Michael Bland of @TravoisKC and other members on the "Severe Distress, Native Lands and the NMTC" panel at #NovocoNMTC discuss how tribal NMTC deals are sometimes more complicated, but worth it. Also, there are 500-plus tribes, so there is no single template for how they work.

Kermit Billups of Greenline Ventures says this might be the most important time in NMTC history. "It's a balancing act," he says. "We have to show we can absorb $10 billion, but this takes time." He says the NMTC community must show it can handle an increased allocation amount.

Panelists on the "Leverage Insights" panel at #NovocoNMTC say true debt isn't always part of the NMTC capital stack. "But for large projects, you often have to have true debt," said Nicole Boone of @lendistry. "Those projects are too big to raise all the required equity."

Jalen Marable of @jpmorgan tells #NovocoNMTC that the upcoming $10 billion NMTC allocation round is "an incredible opportunity for QALICBs to get as much allocation as they can to increase the benefit." Other panelists say they expect an uptick in QEIs in 2025.

Michael @Novogradac says the Dec. 31, 2025, expiration of numerous tax provisions creates a practical deadline for tax legislation. After that, "people will see the effect of the expirations through (higher) withholding tables." #NovocoNMTC

During the Washington Report session at #NovocoNMTC, @bobrapoza says the NMTC Extension Act will be re-introduced in Congress in early February. An additional bill with new provisions will follow.
