Post-editor review of my second monograph complete: mostly only typographical issues to correct. Now to go through the whole thing *one* last time before it’s ready to go to the type setter. I’m very proud of this work and I can’t wait to share it with you all 🥰

Some good news - I've been awarded an internal research accelerator grant worth £4,200 to explore how identity is constructed in a major online video game. I'm going to be making a report and training package for the developer based on the findings. Very excited to start!

I am heartbroken and can’t stop crying. My baby crossed the rainbow bridge today. We had him for 15 years and rescued him from the Dogs Trust when he was about 18 months old. We gave him all the love in the world, and he knew it. He had a good life and was a very good boy 💔🐾

As someone who literally has a book on incels, I can confidently say that Helen Joyce has no idea what she's talking about. Her comparison between the NHS and the incel community is wholly unwarranted, dangerous, and frankly shows her lack of critical thinking skills.

Just feel so deflated. Spent 10 years in education, actively tried to publish as much as possible, got a book contract, earnt a HEA fellowship, served on committees and boards... and when I come to the end of my phd there are no jobs, a global pandemic, and looming recession.

I've been writing about incels, online misogyny, and racism all weekend. The first draft of my next book is now about 75% complete - but honestly, I think once it's done I will be putting solo-authored work on incels to the side for a few months. It takes such a mental toll.

hi- academic who researches this stuff for a living here! The reasons are CONSIDERABLY more complex than this - ranging from how women are spoken about in these communities at a qualitative level to social media algorithms. Blaming it on "leftist ideals" is far from accurate :-)
