A living legend in the game of life and college athletics passed today. Joan Boand was a great friend to me and my family when I started at GVSU in 1997 and helped me out in the press box until 2019. Joan was an ambassador for all students and student-athletes at GVSU. #RIP

Extremely saddened by the news of the passing of Steve Kaminski. Steve did a wonderful job of covering West Michigan sports and you could tell he enjoyed what he was doing. I always had great conversations with Steve. Thoughts and prayers go out to Steve's family.

I understand its chilly at the Masters (50 and partly cloudy), but the @GVSUSoftball team is playing in 38 degree and cloudy weather in Allendale and @GVSUBaseball is playing in 41 degree temps in Midland. Our teams would love 50 degrees.

Great job by our Athletic Communications staff the last three days. Hosted volleyball tournament and then a 7 pm FB game that took over 3 1/2 hours to play. Then put in another 3 plus hours after the game wrapping it up and getting info out. Great hardworking crew.

I have been around @gvsufootball in close proximity since 1997 and it still amazes me as to how little I know compared to coaches. The details that have to be accounted for on every snap of offense, defense and special teams are incredible. Props to those that teach the game.

This is the first year I can recall high school games being cancelled because of the lack of officials, but I guarantee it will become a common trend. Officials can deal with players and coaches, but the parents have become the ultimate problem.

I always cringe when anyone alludes to any aspect of sports as a war. Play in the trenches is not a war. A game is not a war. A tough schedule is not a war. War is a military act where lives are at stake. Sports is a game for entertainment. Do not disrespect the military.
