Re: who should be allowed to be called doctor in healthcare settings. Has anyone actually got any data showing that patients understand different roles that could use terms like “doctor” “advanced practitioner” etc? If not good evidence, should only be GMC reg’d using “dr” imo.

Cannot begin to articulate how much you DO NOT manage to learn in a 5 year medical degree. It’s a subject of huge breadth and nuance, you cannot simply improve the state of the workforce by cutting out a year. Education standards are already dropping due to saturated placements.

RE the new foundation doctor allocation system, why can’t we introduce our own version of “The Match” rather than essentially randomly allocate? Considering we’re due to implement a national exam, at least that would in some way be meritocratic.
