@worstall We should not be defensive and evasive in response. We should assert that we owe them nothing, and instead demand that they repay all foreign aid since independence.

@Spamsalotnow @andrew_lilico So I would say that Britain’s faults with respect to slavery were shared with the whole world, but its virtues were unique. I would settle for your view however, that Britain’s was just another country trading slaves. Instead we have ‘Britain was uniquely bad’

@kunley_drukpa These wouldn’t be refugees. Just people with a right of return to their ancestral homeland (Britain and Netherlands).

@Spamsalotnow @andrew_lilico Britain bought those slaves for the Caribbean from other African tribes, who were slaving for centuries before Britain arrived. Africa would have set its own colonies up if it had the technology and naval power, but it didn’t. So they settled for assisting Europeans.

@RichSandersen @m77kat77 @cjsnowdon None of the deaths were suspicious in isolation. There is no evidence any were murders. They decided they must be murders and world backwards to look for evidence.

@cjsnowdon You still don’t understand why the statistical analysis of the shift pattern is completely bunkum, do you? Fair enough, you’re not a mathematical expert. But refrain from commenting on it.

@echetus Henry V should be in for promoting the English language, nationalism and generally having a go at the French. That overrides a multitude of sins imo. Plus there is a banging play about him.

@Spamsalotnow @andrew_lilico No we weren’t. There were no good guys or bad guys. Everyone who could, and I mean everyone, participated in slavery. At worst Britain were the ‘normal guys’ for 175 years.
