So
@SkyIreland
are still not engaging publicans. I pay over €2350 a month for sports packages they have a strict 3 month cancelation policy. They have no content and the pubs are closed. I promise to use that €7k to help out my staff if we can get them to do the right thing.
💉Amazing day I just brought my Mam for her vaccine. I can honestly say the set up in the Helix is nothing short of military precision with warm friendly people at every turn. Thank you, Hope is here.
Final thought for the week. If hospitality is to start outdoors wouldn’t it be great if the inside was used for the vaccinated elderly. It would give them all a welcome change and also help the business survive and rebuild. A win win.

I’m no minister for health but if you are not feeling well and antigen is positive you have Covid most likely and just isolate. Find a way to log it and free up the PCR tests for people that need them?? Afraid to tweet this nearly!!!
The band back together. We are open from tomorrow for drinks and then starting food from next week
@TheBlackrock_
thank you for all the well wishes we are very excited about this one. 😀
Very sad news yesterday that my old boss Tom O Malley of the Blue Heaven Rathfarnham passed away suddenly. When I was 20 & off on holidays he counted out in cash and gave me the price of the plane ticket to America. A good man. He never got to see his beloved pub reopen. RIP Tom
22 months this has been going on. The country has been to hell and back. Some have been effected more than others, for all sorts of different reasons. Tonight will hopefully be the night we look back on in years to come and we say “that was the night we knew it was “over”.
Out in a socially distant controlled pub where COVID certs were checked. Last order called 10 minutes ago. All I can see is the following. Pissed off customers… stressed staff… lost revenue…. Lost taxes…. Pre house party planning…. Stop the madness.
It is too early to say when hospitality may return and would be unfair to give the industry a date at this stage that the Government may not be able to stand over, Tánaiste

are closed for the night. 55 staff out on a long awaited staff night out. It’s been two years coming. Pray for me!!! 🕺💃🏾🍺
The one thing I really struggle to get my head around is why not even a few words on pubs and restaurants. Just something to say look we know we hear you and you won’t be forgotten we have a plan. But alas nothing. Honestly just hard to credit

Most positive post in a long long long time. Next Saturday I’m bringing my 82 year old mother to get her vaccine in the Helix. Over the bloody moon. 🙌🏻
Made a simple decision a few months ago to sponsor a kid to go to school till he is 18 years old in Uganda. I was only sent the picture of him just now. Puts a lot in prospective. Aloyisious he is 4. Time to ride out this next storm.
Please don’t get stuck into hospitality or retail about “service” so many places are severely under staffed for obvious reason at the minute. Please just bare that in mind.

I’ve 70 people working for us now. If anything like what is being muted happens, I’ll have to let 20/30 go or give them no hours.
@CMOIreland
@MichealMartinTD
@LeoVaradkar
do you want to tell them or will I again?
I have been a massive fan of this man over the years love his movies. Having Morgan Freeman visit
@TheBridge1859
today was defiantly one of the coolest things to ever happen there.🎬
I actually couldn’t care less about
#MerrionGate
loads more to be worried about. Housing, the state of the city, lack of gaurds I could go on and on. Move on ffs.
On the 1st of December I want to bring 35 people back to work in
@LemonAndDuke
and 25 people back to work in
@TheBridge1859
for that to happen we need in door trading. It’s a safe and controlled space. We have played are part we all need a chance to trade now. 🎁
It’s now another 3 months untill the pubs of Ireland are due to open, Jobs will never be recovered some will never open again and most will struggle for years to come as a result. Insurance companies have abandoned us and bills keep on mounting up. Real help needed now.
I see the tabloids have gone spinning words again this morning. No the pubs are not “begging to re open” what we are looking for is a clear road map with hope to reopening, continued supports post reopening and to stop this discrimination of traditional and food pubs.
An iconic pub with an iconic image of 2020. Desperately sad, the pubs of this county did the right thing on government instruction. Unfortunately the same can not be said for the insurance industry. We will not forget.
Here’s one for 2021. The next vaccine needs to be kept refrigerated but not at really cold temperatures. We have some huge pubs in Ireland lots kitted out with social distancing measures and cold rooms and are lying empty. I’ll put our two forward to start
@HSELive
Some senior people in this country need to get the sack today!!! It’s not bloody rocket science get more gaurds on the street and start firing these scum bags into the back of vans and lock them up for a very very long time.
Still trying to get my head around the
@MichealMartinTD
“won’t be going on the lash comment” the way publicans have been treated this year has been shocking. I’m a Publican 12 years now and I’ve never felt so degraded or borderline like a criminal in all my life.
Huge kick in the balls this morning one of our major breweries has just put a simply massive price increase on. This madness has to stop. Calls will go in to reverse it but this is simply insane.
Horrible day. Both

will remain open serving take away and full service on the terraces. All support will be very much appreciated Im going to try and keep as many in as possible.
Hold on a minute Paul you can’t come out and say that. I’ve busted my ass go get the pubs back open staff back to work and play by the rules. For places that are taking the piss close them down you can’t shut an entire industry because some places can’t act responsibly.
Regards Dame Lane - Ireland probably won't suppress Covid-19 much further by July 20th - the numbers are tiny at present. If people have a problem with drinkers gathering on the street - then they should campaign against the pubs reopening full-stop.
☀️ Early warning, Sunny weekend coming.Please do not send me videos of people enjoying themselves in parks or canals. Send them to your TDs hospitality can open outside with toilets, controls, sanitisers, bins, staff back to work, taxes it’s a no brainer.

Dublin city center is in serious need of a good power hose and it needs to be done on a regular basis. It’s in bad shape. Hopefully
@DublinTown
&
@DubCityCouncil
can work together on this.
To the people that are giving out to people that are giving out about the vaccine roll out. If you closed your business three times this year and saw the real impact of the unemployment you would get it.
The truth of it is 60 percent of Pubs in Ireland are open and when the weather is good they are holding their own. But that leaves 40 percent left behind looking on left in no mans land and its our role to represent “all” so this can’t continue. Enough is enough. End of the line.
Restrictions are getting lifted please god on October 22nd and by the looks of it face mask will not be mandatory for hospitality staff. We have made the decision for our staff
@LemonAndDuke
&
@TheBridge1859
to remain wearing face mask for the foreseeable. No crazies. 😚😷
Indoor hospitality: The industry expects that there will be a time limit of one hour 45 minutes, along with a requirement to have tables one metre apart, in the guidelines that will be issued.
Dear EVERY publican in Ireland 2020 was horrible. In 2021 we are going to work day & night to get EVERYONE open together. In early Jan we will engage heavily at government level to get a real road map that sees that and the shackles of 2020 slowly removed. We will fight to keep..
Fifty thousand people will be let go from the pub industry alone. We will need to support those staff. I will not be found wanting. We will rise again.
Out of the 70 staff that we had at the start of the year we will be back to 10/70 on Monday. At the start of June we will back to 30/70 and in July 70/70.

On a personal note it is a fantastic feeling to start bringing some people back to work. We will be serving food to go, drinks to go, click and collect and more. Phase one of getting the company back on its feet.
Just to give a small little window into what going on in hospitality. I lost one head chef to become an apprentice carpenter the guy I replaced him with is now looking at becoming a full time truck driver. The €350 ( taxable ) is no where near enough to provide. Hope needed.
Well you can’t say it wasn’t an interesting few days in the trade… fair play to Richmond this is the certainty the trade needs from the rest of its suppliers.
If the pubs were open I would defiantly be going drinking... So many pissed off publicans tonight and rightly so. Christ almighty you can’t keep treating an entire industry like this.
Truth is today I’m back out after catching Covid ( mild thankfully ) I’m absolutely loving the fun being out in bars and restaurants again. I know no matter what is thrown at hospitality we will bounce back every time. We are born for the craic.

Lots of confusion going around but if you go to
@LemonAndDuke
on a weekend night and want to stay on for some late cocktails and god forbid a dance we will sort you out with your “digital ticket” inside before the clock strikes 12 and your turn into a pumpkin.
An awful lot going around my head at the moment but the one thing that will keep me awake tonight is how many more great staff I’ll lose this time around. I already lost a lot and I’m clinging on to the last few to help the rebuild. I know I’m not alone on this.
Ok so after another horrible week for the hospitality trade and with an ever developing situation here’s a few things. Everyone is incredibly pissed off with the government and rightly so. I unfortunately do believe the Delta variant will rise and a big protest (at the moment) …
How you can have a “Green list” while 3500 Irish businesses in the hospitality sector remain closed is beyond me. If I was one of them I would be beyond disgusted at how I was being treated. My over riding feeling lately has been guilt that I am trading while they are closed.
1539 publicans that are still closed surveyed this is so worrying.
•Suffering from extreme stress– 63%
•Depressed– 48%
•Content– 4%
•Worried about being able to put food on the table– 41%
•Considering alternative careers– 41%
•Considering closing the business for good– 60%
Legalisation is on the way around tips and how they are distributed to staff. Just to be clear ALL of the tips
@TheBridge1859
&
@LemonAndDuke
go to the staff always have always will.
I’m not sure if the government have any idea what people in hospitality are going through at the moment. This is a huge body blow to so many. The supports and mental supports that need to be put in place now can not be understated.
