As a 3D environment artist do you actually use and think having knowledge in houdini makes the difference in terms of being hired?
I see is used for terrain generation and is more for the tech artists to use.
Is that important?

I'm grateful my cat came to my life in a really hard moment, I remember spending all 2023 in bed crying trying to figure out what to do next.
Taking care of him was my first priority and it was hard.
But it made me to get out of bed.

3D has taught me how to draw, actually.
I'm grateful I want to mix both abilities.
I've decimated my first mesh! adding some context I only have one year of experience on this field and I've never fully done any final" sculpting in zbrush. Can't wait to texture these.

I've always wanted to be an illustrator but never felt confident enough to deserve it.
Ended up in 3D because there was a safe job in there but there isn't either.
And it's reflected on my work.

2019: I've tried for years to get to an art school fighting against my disability, It was a new fresh start from tumultuous years and I fell in love with my actual bf, ended up in the hospital almost dying from my illness at this point I was 19 y/o.

2019: Starting art school insecure about my art
2020: Hardcore fundamentals study during lockdown, burnout
2021: Break from art 🧍♀️
2022: Graduate + move to Canada and start college 😩
2023: love art!! First art job and met cool art friends!!
2024: want to keep growing 💛

It's been a long time since I posted anything.
I'd love to follow people in the field of environment and prop design, but I get overwhelmed when I see professional works (I'm a junior).
I want to connect with people, not just follow someone.

Guess what, I'm really focused on my new side projects! After 2 hours collecting references of my 5 favorite game styles, to learn how to create stylized environments. It's still a wip pure ref, references are a really important part of the process.✨

I'm back on track modeling! After almost a year it's time to get back to work hard on my portfolio!
Sometimes even tho I'm working on something I won't show it because as a junior takes more time to get to make notorious changes on the assets you model.

2020:lockdown got me trying to get a Illustration job.But it didn't happen.
2021: Ended up studying a 3D master's degree because I felt I was easy to get a job that way but I hated the experience and it taught me a lot.
I also got so stressed So I went back to the hospital again+

Tbh I see a lot of people talking about ai on this app, actually makes me wonder why is better to use ai...
I think like an artist myself :Art is about to enjoy the process, ai limmits your head + society will start demanding that we work much faster.

I'm a person with a disability, and this type of advices hurt me, I do what I can, all I do is try and work with limitations, reading that you need to be literaly obsesed with work to develop capabilities or else you won't be hired hurts.

I'm 24 and I do not regret being an artist, a lot of people try to tear down your aspirations because it's risky and they don't allow themselves to try.
If you are reading this I want you to try.
You never know how your art can impact someone else to enjoy their life.

Sometimes you don't fit in some jobs, but still you are a valuable person and a hireable one.
Getting fired doesn't mean you can't evolve or change direction.
Seeing all the layoffs and thinking about the workers needing to feed their family brokes my heart.
