Jean Jeener's work led to the development of the fascinating world of multi-dimensional #NMR #spectroscopy. He did not publish 2D NMR, which he gave as a lecture on a non-utilitarian exercise given to the students to understand ‘coherence transform’ by the second pulse in a coupled spin system at a summer school in 1971 in Basko Polje (former Yugoslavia). While many could not understand, Thomas Baumann, a Ph.D. student of Richard Ernst, wrote down the lecture notes, which became the testimony of his work. 45 years later, he published a reprint of his lecture in the journal Progress in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy
