#OTD 12/2/1972 President Nixon out for a spin on the Volga 70 hydrofoil in Key Biscayne, Florida. The Soviet-made watercraft was a gift from Soviet Communist party leader Leonid Brezhnev. We love how this photograph looks like a watercolor painting. (Image: WHPO-D1052-27)

Our thoughts are with President Jimmy Carter, his wife of 73 years Rosalynn Carter, and their family today. We wish the indefatigable former President a speedy and full recovery following surgery performed earlier this morning. (Image: NAID 75855831) #JimmyCarter

We were deeply saddened to learn of former First Lady Rosalynn Carter's passing. She was a champion for mental health advocacy, women's rights, and the disadvantaged. With grace and strength, she was a light in the world. She will be greatly missed. (Image: NAID 5730827)

Because #CowAppreciationDay is apparently a thing... President Nixon's father Frank with the family's Guernsey cow Joan Crawford. For real. We don't make this stuff up, folks.
