The US covered Queen Elizabeth’s funeral the whole day while dedicating 45 seconds of time to Puerto Ricans who went through a Hurricane. The message is clear: The lives of thousands of Puerto Ricans are not as valuable as the life of 1 white person.

Hurricanes are a problem. Yes. But when people die days, months later or people don’t have running water, hot food, can cook with clean water or have electricity for days, weeks, months on end, the problem is colonialism, racism and classism. Not a Hurricane.

Black erasure in Reggaetón music is a huge ongoing problem. Ask yourself why is Tego Calderon, Don Omar, Myke Towers, Darell, Zion y Lennox do not get as much recognition as a Karol G, Anuel, Bad Bunny, JBalvin. Their proximity to whiteness has made their path to success easier.
