Do you feel slightly jealous of folks who have 'made it' on Instagram but you kinda don't want to admit it? This is for you. Trust me, I thought the same. Especially when I quit my Instagram influencer account with 10K followers in 2020 and grew massively across LinkedIn and X after that. I thought Instagram would've been *so* much easier. I regret it sometimes only when I think of all the money I have left on the table. But honestly, I got my professional success because letting go of the 'gram helped me be more - self-aware - productive - confident I realised I don't need to do what others are doing. I can still monetise what I want to without all those insecurities. You don't become great if you are one of the many doing the same thing. You're great when you stand out. You are unique. And when you tap into that, you realise that greatness has always been a part of you. So you do you. And do what aligns with your value systems. If you don't know what they are, like I didn't, it's time to switch off and look within. Or have someone help you with that. PS - Many of my clients feel the same. They're at their mid-career level and they're unsure if they should jump on the bandwagon or stay away from doing things they don't want to. π¨ The third cohort of my LinkedIn group coaching program, Authentic Influence, starts 5 days from now. I'm only picking 6 folks to give my 100% attention to their growth. (4 seats left) I believe soulful stories are evergreen and I want to help people attract opportunities by writing on LinkedIn. Here's the brutally honest reason you're not getting traction on LinkedIn. Read only if you have thick skin :)) Note: no sugar-coating here because that won't help you. 1οΈβ£ Your posts don't have a hook. You only use generic statements or old-school headlines. Why would anyone click on 'read more' when they see this? 2οΈβ£ Stats don't grow by refreshing them. So stop cribbing about the numbers. In my experience, most people who crib about numbers genuinely have pretty sad content (more on this in pt 5) 3οΈβ£ You don't have a neat profile or a clear offer. Don't write a bunch of degrees in your name and header and make use of the following sections - banner, about me, featured. 4οΈβ£ Too many irrelevant photos. Photos are powerful when used the right way. 5οΈβ£ Bad content! No better way to put it but if you're only cribbing or writing about how your day was, nobody wants to read about it. Negativity and misery find company, but do you really want that kind of audience? β Bonus: Be mindful of the energy you put out there. You will *always* get higher traction if you make others feel jealous, scarce, or hopeless. Or you can use your power to make people better. The latter is slower but more fulfilling. __ PS - The third cohort of Authentic Influence, my LinkedIn group coaching program starts on Feb 11. Comment/DM with GROWTH for more info. We close when we fill 6 spots!
